My PC boots up and then restarts. There is no set pattern to this however. It may be on for 2 minutes or 8 hours before it does this.I've tested the power supply, it's fine. Any advice?

How did you test the power supply?

  • camerond617 May 26, 2010

Ran some power tests and a voltage meter over it. Unless it's not powerful enough. However if that were the case, it wouldn't boot at all right?

  • camerond617 May 26, 2010

Ran some power tests and a voltage meter over it. It all checked out. It's all new gear too. Unless the unit is not strong enough. But if that were the case, it wouldn't boot at all, right?

One of the programs set to be loaded at boot fails, you get a BSOD and the pc restarts. You need to find what the BSOD says to stop all of that.
To see the BSOD you need to stop the pc auto-restarting:   Start / Control Panel / System  /Advanced / Startup and Recovery / Settings... > under System Failure un-check "Automatically restart"

First boot of Win 7. New PC build

Hi.

First of all when you are in the BIOS and have set the DVD/CD drive as the first boot device make sure you save the settings before you restart the computer as it will not remember the changes if you don't.

Make sure that the lens on the CD/DVD drive is clean and also make sure the Windows 7 install disk is clean and free of any finger prints.

make sure that you keep tapping a key when the drive spins up as sometimes people miss the "Press any key to boot from CD/DVD" message.

If you still can't get the disk to boot then try the install disk in a working PC and see if that reads the disk. If it does then the optical drive could be faulty or does not support DVD format.

Regards.

Error sc 329

This is for a Ricoh copier. You did not indicate machine.

SC 329: Laser Beam Pitch Adjustment Error
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The LD unit home position sensor does not detect an on condition while changing the LD unit position for correcting the LD position or changing the DPI.

Instructions from the Service Manual below...

.

5.4.3 LASER BEAM PITCH ADJUSTMENT
There are two laser beam pitch adjustment procedures: one for 400 dpi, and one
for 600 dpi. These adjustments use the following SP modes.
· SP2-109-1: Laser Beam Pitch Adjustment - 400 dpi
· SP2-109-2: Laser Beam Pitch Adjustment - 600 dpi
· SP2-109-3: Laser Beam Pitch Initial Setting - 400 dpi
· SP2-109-4: Laser Beam Pitch Initial Setting - 600 dpi
· SP2-902-2, no.12: IPU Test Pattern - Cross Stitch - 400 dpi
· SP2-902-2, no.13: IPU Test Pattern - Cross Stitch - 600 dpi

1. Perform SP2-109-8 (Beam Pitch Data Reset).

2. Input the value for 400 dpi that is printed on the LD unit into SP2-109-1.
Use the value printed after "P" on the new LD unit as shown below.
NOTE: Do not use values printed after a "V".

(These value numbers are on a sticker inside the machine with a UPC code on it. The numbers are just under the UPC barcode. And example number looks like this: "15980300151P: 120, 172", so the example 400 dpi value here is "120".)

3. Press the "Enter" key.

4. Perform SP2-109-3.

5. Print the 400-dpi test pattern onto A3 (11"x17") paper using SP2-902-2 no.12
(cross stitch). (See Service Tables - Test Pattern Printing - Section 4.2.3, pasted below.)

6. Write the value of SP2-109-1 on the test pattern which was input at step 2.

7. Change the value of SP2-109-1 and print another test pattern, repeating steps
2 to 5. Print about 5 patterns with different values for SP2-109-1 (e.g. "48", "96",
"192", "240").

8. Check this test pattern. If the laser beam pitch is not correct, the image looks
like a black vertical stripe pattern.
NOTE: If the laser beam pitch is correct, the vertical stripe is not so noticeable.
If the value is not correct, the vertical stripe pattern is darker.

9. Adjust the laser beam pitch position until the thin lines are of uniform thickness
(no striping effect should appear on the printout), doing steps 2, 3, and 4. (In
step 2, input a value which is estimated to be correct, then do steps 3 and 4,
then if necessary go back to step 2 and try another value.)

10. After adjusting the laser beam pitch for 400 dpi, adjust the laser beam pitch for
600 dpi, using the same procedure as for 400 dpi (use the SP modes for 600
dpi).

.

4.2.3 TEST PATTERN PRINTING (SP2-902)
NOTE: Do not operate the machine until the test pattern is printed out completely.
Otherwise, an SC may occur.

1. Access the SP mode which contains the test pattern you need.

2. Press exit, then touch the "Copy Mode" key on the operation panel to access
the copy mode display.

3. Select the paper size.

4. Press the "Start" key to print the test pattern.

5. After checking the test pattern, exit copy mode by touching the "SP Mode" key.
Reset the test pattern to 0.

6. Exit the SP mode.

These adjusments listed in the manual require removal of a service panel and mechanical adjustment of the laser mounts, so it should be done by a qualified technician.

However, these test procedures can indicate whether or not this is the problem with your printer.

Logon lock

There are a lot of Windows password revealers and crackers available, but I’ve found that Windows Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
it not only supports XP, 2000, and NT, I have personally tested it with Vista Home Premium and Ultimate. It works perfectly to reset any local user account to a blank password
You can use the ISO to burn a boot CD. Follow these instructions:
1. Download ISO file from http://www.windowspasswordsrecovery.com Windows Password Recovery Tool
2. Burn to a CD using a CD burning tool such as Nero or Roxio or MagicISO
3. Insert CD into drive and reboot.
4. You may have to select an option in the BIOS to get the computer to boot from the CD.
Booting up and clearing a password takes a minute or two works like a charm.

SC 329: Laser Beam Pitch Adjustment Error
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The LD unit home position sensor does not detect an on condition while changing the LD unit position for correcting the LD position or changing the DPI.

Instructions from the Service Manual below...

.

5.4.3 LASER BEAM PITCH ADJUSTMENT
There are two laser beam pitch adjustment procedures: one for 400 dpi, and one
for 600 dpi. These adjustments use the following SP modes.
· SP2-109-1: Laser Beam Pitch Adjustment – 400 dpi
· SP2-109-2: Laser Beam Pitch Adjustment – 600 dpi
· SP2-109-3: Laser Beam Pitch Initial Setting – 400 dpi
· SP2-109-4: Laser Beam Pitch Initial Setting – 600 dpi
· SP2-902-2, no.12: IPU Test Pattern – Cross Stitch – 400 dpi
· SP2-902-2, no.13: IPU Test Pattern – Cross Stitch – 600 dpi

1. Perform SP2-109-8 (Beam Pitch Data Reset).

2. Input the value for 400 dpi that is printed on the LD unit into SP2-109-1.
Use the value printed after “P” on the new LD unit as shown below.
NOTE: Do not use values printed after a “V”.

(These value numbers are on a sticker inside the machine with a UPC code on it. The numbers are just under the UPC barcode. And example number looks like this: "15980300151P: 120, 172", so the example 400 dpi value here is "120".)

3. Press the “Enter” key.

4. Perform SP2-109-3.

5. Print the 400-dpi test pattern onto A3 (11”x17”) paper using SP2-902-2 no.12
(cross stitch).

“192”, “240”).

Watching new two day old le37r87 and the screen just went black now does nothing but the soulnd still comes out of the Hi-fi

Does bulb come on? If not, I would take it back since only 2 days old. If it does, try unplugging for a few minutes and plugging back in to see if that solves problem. If not, you can check test patterns by getting into service mode to see if display is working. Not sure what code to get into service mode on your tv is, but I have a different model Samsung and I enter service mode by pressing "mute", "1", "8", "2", then "power" on the remote. If your samsung has same code, it will start up in service mode. Once in service mode, go to DDP1011, then Test Pattern. Go through the different patterns by pressing the right arrow key on remote. If they don't show up, you probably have bad DMD board. If they do show up, go back to main menu and select DNle then Test Pattern. If pattern does not show up, you have an analog board problem. If it does show up, go back to main menu and there should be an option in the menu tree to do a user reset, which will change everything to factory defaults and restart tv. Hope this helps. If not I would be taking it back since only 2 days old.

SOLTEK SL-65K2-CT Motherboard

The beep pattern is a beep code and is how the motherboard communicates errors during the early booting process otherwise known as the POST (Power On Self-Test). List restart the computer and listen for the pattern of short and long beeps. Soltek does not list the beep codes in their manual, instead they refer to Phoenix who manufacturers the AwardBIOS on your motherboard. There are only two POST beep codes; a single long beep followed by two short beeps (Video error) and anything else. Apparently anything else you hear *probably* refers to RAM problems. Since you?ve already tested both one of the remaining options is to install a *POST* card (about $30 to $50), boot the PC and read the hexadecimal error code for a more detailed clue to what failed. If you ask around you might find someone who has one and may be willing to loan it to you. Another option is to write off the motherboard since the cost of the test equipment it about 1/3 the cost of a new board. Let us know if you have any other questions and please don?t forget to rate the posing.

Monitor revives only after cycling the power many times

Unscrew 4 screws on the back side. Place the monitor with the front up and open it along the upper seam. Turn it again and lift the back cover. Shift the inner case "up" and take the button holding plate out - it is being held only by a tape. Inspect it and clean it. You might have to replace the condensers and/or switches on it.

This might solve the problem, but there may be other causes as well.

Good luck!
