Hi there recently my washing machine doesn't drain and the repair man found a hairpin inside My question was that the hairpin could have been there earlier or only when I was washing the laundry is it

I would say it is far more likely that the hairpin either got in by accident with something YOU put in the machine. It does not take long for such an item to find its way to the pump and jam it.
One could also question as to whether the repairman just told you he found the hairpin to validate having to do the repair he needed to do. Unless you personally saw the pump opened and the pin taken from it.......?
Surely the important thing is that it is now fixed and point in "crying over spilt milk" as they say..........

Fills and washes but does not drain and spin

Could be the pump motor faulty but more likely it's jammed with a hairpin or other foreign object.

How come it will not drain water after running a cycle? The washer makes a noise from the back and it sounds like it's the pump trying to pull the water. But... the water will does not come out. What do I...

First place to check is the drain pump filter. Low and to one side on the front panel is the access to the pump filter,, A small hatch or maybe behind the kick panel.
Unplug electricity to machine.
Make sure the machine has as little water in it as possible, because when you open the drain pump filter any water in the machine will run out.
Lean the machine back against the wall will help contain any water left in the machine.
Unscrew the filter cover and clean. Check that a hairpin or bra wire or coin is not jammed in the pump impeller.
Replace the filter cover and test.. If you aren't able to do this or the pump still won't work, you probably need a serviceman to check it out.. You may need a pump motor replacement
Not a big job
Good luck....Nomess

The water in the machine is not draining.

This is usually a pump issue - the pump controls draining and in some cases, spinning.

1) Drain water from machine by placing drain hose into a bucket on the floor.

2) check for obtsruction in the pump assembly (maybe a hairpin, or clothes peg was flushed through the wash) which will inhibit the pump propellor from turning.

3) if no obstruction, then likely due to faulty pump assembly.

Hi There. My Kenmore Super Capacity 3.5 model # 970-c 45072-00 is not completing the drain cycle. What do I do to fix this?

You might want to check the plumbing in the bottom of the machine for clogs. On most modern washers, the spin cycle will not start if the water is not completely drained or doesn't drain fast enough. I had a similar problem and found a there was a rubber fitting with a plastic cup inside that serves as a trap to prevent debris from entering the pump. It had a piece of scotchbrite, forty cents worth of change and a hairpin stuck in it.

Kenmore 70 series Washer will not drain or go into the spin cycl

There is a pressure switch that inhibits the machine from doing something stupid like spinning with a load of water in it.

Quick test is to blow hard down the outlet pipe, put a tissue around it to protect you mouth

If you hear air bubbles inside that machine it meand there is not a major blockage.

If there is a blockage such as a sock or underwear then the hoses need to come off to clear it

Take out the filter and see if there is a coin or a hairpin or similar holding back the impeller of the pump.

If you can reach the impeller with your finger see if you can turn it (Or use a skewer)

If air goes through and the impeller turns then it is either the programmer or the pump coil.

To fix that you need a test meter and some knowledge

Washer whines any time the agitator is moving or spinning, not while filling, etc. What might this be? I live in the middle of nowhere and my appliance repair man has died of old age. Literally.

We took the housing off the washer and started the machine, albeit carefully, and followed the squeal. Sounded like the water pump thingy in the front. Took that off from the machine but still connected to the hoses and the squeal stopped. Dipped and drained machine, removed water pump thingy and looked inside. Found a really beat up hairpin/bobby pin lodged inside! (I have two teen daughters at home) Removed pin, put back together, and wah-lah, a few hundred dollar miracle, no squeal!
