Question about MSI K8N Neo3-F Motherboard

1 Answer

Thanks for trying

Im afraid that the advice you gave me for my motherboard didnt work, ive posted a reply in the relevant forum but im not to sure how fixit works, so i thought id ask you directly =)

the drivers you linked me to from the MSI site were the ones i was already using, and i tried to install the drivers from the nvidia site, but still no luck. unfortunatly im unable to access the internet on the computer with the problem, i am using another computer and transfering the drivers with a USB stick instead. how would i find out which set of drivers i need? just incase i installed the wrong drivers. i used the nForce 4 AMD drivers from the nvidia website, as far as i know that was what i needed.

also, a little off topic, but i have another question, when i boot the computer (the one with the ethernet problem) during the POST just before the screen where it says "verifying pool data" the boot up stops and says floppy disk - failure (40) or something along those lines, and i have to press f1 to continue. its only a minor problem but any help is appreciated, thank you.

I think you did right. Using MSI's web site. the nforce will list the latest drivers but re-call you checked them & their dates were the same as MSI's. It's better to wait untill you can connect with the nVIDIA site directly.
The error you received for the floppy. (this could be a linked issue for you're SMbus controller). Read the link profided.

Get that out of the way before the SMbus controller can be addressed.

Just got a Asus m4n68tm motherboard 250 processor 2gig ram to go with a half gig hd and a 450w psu. Assembled everything nicely and fired the thing up only to find - no video. Everything seems ok but...

try removing you ram and putting it back in make sure it locks in place, and make sure your cpu installed correctly and securely. Also try clearing the bios. If this does not work reply back to this posting with you complete configuration make and model of every thing.

I put the wrong type of RAM and it caused the computer to stop booting and gave out a burn electric smell. Now, the computer won't even boot. Any remedy to this?

Try with a different memory and check if the system works fine else Im afraid that the mainboard could be the issue.

The best remedy would be to get the motherboard replaced as the extent of short cannot be determined.

Asus p5 vdc-x motherboard not recognizing ddr2

Ok i am just guessing here

maybe your motherboard does not support

ddr2 rams and hence it wont boot up as it does not detect any ram in the slots......

try to boot with one old and one new ram (ddr and ddr2) and post the result

are you sure whether the ddr2 ram is supported?
