Hello

I do not know if i understand your question completely, but if not, feel free to leave a comment.

Ok, so you have a laptop, webcam, and software to manage your webcam.
Assuming you have a internet connection at home, or wherever you want to chat online, you are sorted to do so.

If i may make an example/suggestion:

If you have the webcam installed(Driver), you do not need additional software to manage the webcam. If you use skype, it automatically picks up that there is a webcam installed, hence, you can just use it.

Most chatting applications does the same thing. So, if you prefer to manage your webcam using additional software you can, but, usually the chatting applications auto detects that there is a webcam installed.

In a nutshell:

You are good to go, happy chattin'.

Please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards
Andrea

    Hello Jenny

    Ok, let break it down.

Firstly, you have a webcam, internet connection and laptop. Thus, you have all the hardware needed to video chat online. Secondly, all you need to do is to install the webcam driver. The installation CD which comes with the laptop, will include software which will mange your webcam.

After you have installed the driver for the webcam, you will be able to use the webcam in your chats.
All you need now, is to find the chat application you want to use. I use Skype, it is free to download, and very easy to use.

Skype will automatically detect that you have a webcam installed, hence, all you need to do is to choose that you would like to video call/chat.

If you already have an application you like to use, it will automatically detect that there is a webcam installed, so it will start working automatically.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

    Kind regards
    Andrea
