That would be a faulty power supply. That is the box that the is attached to the power plug-in cord.

thats what I first thought. but there is no power supply per say. i know sounds weird but the power cord just plugs into the circuit board. any suggestions

Some sets are made like this. The board has capacitors on them. Do look for any swelled up capacitors. (they are the round metal canister type components.) Sometimes another indication would be burn marks on the circuit board as well. This is called the power board. Some people purchase analog meters and test the components on the board for faulty ones, and then replace it or them. Others end up replacing the entire power board.

k how would I test them. I will look in the mean time. I am capable of soldering a capacitor if need be. I just dont know how to test. thanks

You can either use an analog meter or an multi-tester. Each capacitor has it's own rating stamped on it. The numbers on the tester must match the printed rating on the component you are testing.

I looked on both sides of the board and I see no signs of burn or bulging. how would I look up for a new power board. its a pretty big board about a foot square with many different components

I found it but only says 50.95. I want to see a picture to verify it is the one. if it were a power supply i would say no big deal but with a board like I see with multiple accessories I am concerned. any ideas.

You can either get a analog meter or multi-tester and test the components or replace the entire board. If you don't have a metal box that is attached to the power cable or next to it, then there is no power supply just a power board.

My JVC TV wont turn on, the blue LD at the front of the TV comes on, when i press the power button the blue LED goes off and i hear a click on the TV but it wont turn on.

Look at the power supply board, look for capacitors ( look like black or brown cans) that have their silver tops bulging. There is a cross on the top designed to open in a failure so the capacitor doesn't pop. Even if the top is still closed, the slightest bulge indicates a failure. Unsolder all bulging capacitors and replace with same spec. For instance, in a bad Samsung there are 4 1000mf 25v 105C rated caps that always go bad, same symptoms. The caps are about $3-4/pc in USA.

87virago1100cc wont kick over seems like a relay or switch cause it wont even click

Do any lights come on when the key is turned? Are you you sure there is power from the battery? If yes then what happens when the start button is pressed? Do the lights dim at all? Even without a click noise if the button is supplying power to the solinoid the oil check/dummy lights should dim slightly. If no dimming but the lights are on when the key is turned, start by checking the starter button, if there is no power there trace your way back to the battery with a voltmeter until you find where the power stops.

TV does not power on. No Stand by light either.

Your power supply is shorted out. Get a good repairman to fix it..."exspensive" repair if you screw it up.
