Ryobi electric log splitter won't return to startposautomaticaly

Ryobi electric log splitter was working fine and returned to the start position automatically I ran about 5 chunks of wood through it with the bleeder valve closed, did not know that it had one?but now it won't return unless i hold the forward lever down and returns incredibly slow in about 60 seconds i bought it used and can't find a manual.did I get duped on this purchase? do you know where I can find a manual? or probably parts? I think deep down I knew that you couldn't have a quiet splitter and listen to some tunes while you split your wood! thanks guys for whatever help you can offer

We have one of these splitters and the only problem has been a control valve sticking down. Oiled the valve button with silicon oil which seems to have helped. Be sure to close the bleeder valve when putting the machine away. We bought the machine from Home Depot. Use some headphones for your music! We have split rounds much larger than recommended by splitting from different sides. Hope this helps!

I have a 35 ton black diamond log splitter . The ram won’t move it has plenty of hydraulic oil . Worked fine 2days ago .

does it make any noise when you press the lever?
it could be a number of things.
hydraulic circuits usually have bypasses when they reach a certain pressure the relief valve opens and oil is returned to the tank safely. if not you could have popped a safety v/v which is in place if the return circuit is not functioning it releases the oil pressure it may have to be replaced for it to function again. this may not be the case either sometimes with log splitters the track get clogged full of crud but you would hear the pump loading then unloading through the relief circuit. the ram could be bent but usually there would be an oil leak in this case. i assume that the pump is running and all that?

Was working fine until just not enough power to split log

Air conditioners usually cannot split logs very well. They are better at cooling instead of splitting wood. If you have a wood splitter and picked AC by mistake then I would check the hydraulic fluid level, grease the slide that the splitter wedge runs on. Then change the oil in the engine and clean the airfilter or replace it. Also make sure you use fresh gas and not old gas. gas goes bad after sitting a few months.

Wood splitter is pushing hydrolic fluid out fill tube on the return stroke

make sure that the ram is in the fully retracted position
empty oil reservoir until the oil level is at the required position normally about 1/4 inch below filler plug
if oil is added with the ram at any extension then the extra oil will be pushed back into the reservoir and over flow out

Log splitter won't return to start position

well it's a complete guess due to fact you didn't mention model or mfg or even a photo , but most log splitters have a auto return tripper device this should activate ,either a switch or hydraulic lever to reverse the flow of oil from the cylinder after a log is split , some models even use large springs to force the cylinder back into its sleeve after it extends out , I guess springs could break ? this would be easy to clearly see with a close visual inspection

Masport log splitter how do you rewire a 7tonne pressure log splitter

Make sure the device is unplugged from the 240 VAC power source.
Connect the 240 VAC line and neutral wires to the momentary switch. Examine the motor wires to determine line and neutral.
This log splitter is equipped with a control system that requires to be operated by both hands of the user - Left hand controls the
hydraulic control lever while right hand controls the pushbutton
switch. The log splitter will freeze upon absence of either hand. Only
after both hands release the controls, the log pusher starts to return
backward to the starting position.

Electric log splitter motor hums but won't run

suggest you get information on repairing log splitter, not dryer. have the same problem, and no replacement parts available. must be in the electrical, easiest would be capacitor, less the motor itself, take apart and see if windings burned, or smell electrical

Just got a log splitter cantget started motor running it moved and blew fuse

Hi, not much info to go on here, but;

have you ensured that your outlet automatic fuse (if applicable) will handle the current of the electric motor? Check ratings. If motor rating is close to automatic fuse limits, you will need a "slow" type auto fuse or use a larger capasity outlet. This the first thing to check before looking further at the splitter itself, assuming that it is the fuse of your outlet that you blew?.
