Set your password ... it is a part of the wireless setup wizard.

Easiest way to do this is delete the connection and re-discover it.

Go to the control panel ... open network connections and remove the wireless ... Reboot ... leet windows rediscover ... when you get the opportunity, set the password.

HELP has an excellent example for this.

192 168 254

There should be four sets of numbers each seperated by a dot. These are the address of your router which will allow you to configure the router as you wish. Follow explanation below.

Broadband router manufacturers generally allow users to setup and configure the router settings through their web browsers. You just have to connect the browser to your computer and enter the default private IP address in the address bar of your browser.
The default IP address is factory set and is usually begins with 192.168. Some of the popular brands as given below use 192.168.1.254 as their default private IP Address.
  • some 3Com OfficeConnect routers
  • Netopia / Cayman Internet gateways
  • Billion ADSL routers
  • Linksys SRW2024 managed switches
  • Westell modems for Bellsouth DSL Internet service in the U.S.

192.168.1.254 Router Password

Alongwith the default Private IP Address, these manufacturers also set a default username and password. Users are allowed to change these default password settings. But in case they forget the changed admin and password details, they can use the hardware reset button to change all the settings to the default settings. In this process the password is also reset to the factory default value

No data internet connection

Connecting to the Internet without a Wi-Fi data plan isn't a difficult process even for a novice at utilizing and joining wireless networks. Whether you are looking to join a public Wi-Fi hotspot network or a neighbor's private Wi-Fi network with their permission, get your computer online and browsing the Internet without the use of your own Wi-Fi data plan, saving money in the process. Note these steps to get you connected in just a few minutes.

Move to an area that offers free public Wi-Fi or to an area where you believe you are close enough to pick up a neighbor's Wi-Fi signal. In the latter case, check with your neighbor beforehand to ensure it is allowed that you utilize their Wi-Fi network. Using a private network without permission is illegal. Boot up your laptop. Allow Windows or the Mac operating system to load up fully on the laptop. Click on the wireless icon on your computer's desktop area. In Windows, you will find this icon on the right side of the bottom toolbar. It appears to be a computer monitor icon with small radio waves reaching out of it. Alternatively, on a Mac laptop click on the Wi-Fi icon on the top right toolbar in the desktop area. This icon will look like a set of radio waves extending upward. Look over the list that appears once you click on the wireless icon. This list will present all the wireless network options that are within the range of your laptop. Avoid any that present with a "lock" icon beside them, because these require passwords. If you are looking to join a password-protected network like one offered by a neighbor, request the password ahead of time. In the event of a public network at a local business, a password will not be required. Click on the network you intend to join. Input the appropriate password at this point, if joining a password-protected network. Also, choose the type of security encryption the private Wi-Fi network is using. Your computer will often have this auto-selected, but you may need to select either "WPA" or "WEP" security manually. Click "Enter" on your keyboard. If you do not have the necessary password or are unsure as to the security encryption type, either contact the network administer or click "Cancel" and join a public Wi-Fi network. Allow several moments for your computer to join the network. You will receive a notification on your Windows or Mac toolbar when it does. Launch your Internet browser of choice and begin utilizing the Internet without having to rely on your own Wi-Fi data plan

Itouch can't see my network

Not that I am aware of , but you signal strength will degrade if all the devices are on and using at once. Also your ISP MAY "throttle" your service/signal with high data usage. That said, Your iTouch and xBox, in the setting , wireless, the iTouch should see the signal, Is the wireless turned on? It's discoverable? If your wirell has a Password, has a setup box on the iTouch asked for the password? Use the Manuals for the devices to troubleshoot connections.

I have a Motorola SB 5120 modem the P/C light is always flashing .At time I can't get on Wi-Fi from my I Phone or my desk in my sons room, and other time i can. What is going on or do I need another...

Hi

The flashing lights (espicially the Internet light) are normal, they indicate activity (Power, LAN, Broadband, Internet).

Some modems suffer from signal interference from other wireless devices in your home and neighbourhood.

Sometimes the problem may be a signal deadspot in your home to do with unseen metal, pipes, wiring or some other aspect of the buildings architecture.

If your modem has a detachable aerial that crews and unscrews, then it might be possilble to buy a larger more powerful booster aerial for it (take the old aerial to the store with you to ensure compatibilty of the screw fitting) that will give you a better signal.

The modem does not have to be sited near a phone socket. Consider resiting the modem to a good central point where everyone gets a good signal, by buying and using Male to Female power cord extensions and Modem cable extensions.

Ensure that your internet connection is enctypted with a private network key and protected by a password, so that neighbours cannot pirate your internet connection and thus use up your bandwidth and slow down or degrade your signal.

I hope this helps.

These days online threats usually fall into two categories:

  • Attacks on you
  • Attacks on your computer
Browse privately. If you want to help protect yourself from fraud when you use a public computer, it's a good idea to erase your tracks. InPrivate Browsing tells Internet Explorer not to record or save your browsing history, temporary Internet files, form data, cookies, and user names and passwords. For more information, see Internet Explorer 8: Browse privately. The newest version of Internet Explorer helps protect you from both of these threats.

Im unable to connect wifi

1. Make sure your wireless capability is active on the item your trying to connect.
2. If you are trying to access your own private network some routers such as the Lynksys WRT120N there is a Wi-FI Protection button.
Enter your routers IP Address within your internet explorer such as some are 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.1.1. Then you will want to enter username and password if you have not done a set up or anyone else it may still be default which usually is admin and password. Once you are in your router menu there is a wireless option. Inside the wireless option you have the option to connect manually (with password) or by wireless protected setup. If you have tried with password to log in and it doesnt work try this option. This is done 2 ways.
1. If your device has a wireless protected option hit the icon button for both and they will synch up.
2. If your device has a wireless protected pin number you will have to enter the numbers into each device to synch to system.
