It sounds like the shutter mechanism in your lens has stuck closed. This mechanism blocks out the light when you push the button to take a picture, allowing the image sensor to record what it saw just at that moment. If the shutter sticks closed then the image is always dark. You can see the shutter when it is closed from the outside, this is probably what you see when looking into your lens. Fixing this problem generally requires complete disassembly of the camera body and lens to reset the malfunctioning elements. Check with your manufacturer for recalls or technical bulletins, and see if they will fix it under your warranty. If this does not work out you can find good service providers online who can work on your camera. David Millier Advance Camera Repair

hi try to reset ur camera...To do such reset, turn on the camera and hold the menu button down for longer than 5 seconds. A message should hopefully come up on your LCD asking if you want to reset the camera. Select Yes...thank u!!!

Formatting is erasing the memory card and preparing it to take new photos. If you haven't saved the photos to your computer yet, you will need to find a memory card utility that "rescues" data (pictures, in this case) from a card. You can go to your card manufacturers (Kingston, Sandisk, or whatever your brand is) website and find a suggestion for what utility they suggest.
If you had them saved to your computer, no worries, just start taking pictures again!

I would recommend you to buy Canon PowerShot SX210IS 14.1 MP Digital Camera with 14x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 3.0-Inch LCD. Decidedly slim and sleekly refined, the PowerShot SX210 IS packs a feature set that reads like a wish list. The 14.1 Megapixel CCD joins a 14x 28mm Wide-Angle Zoom for imaging power to spare. Frame your shots in the bright 3.0-inch widescreen PureColor System LCD, with the Low Light mode for sharp images in dimly-lit situations. It also captures stunning HD movies with Dynamic mode for enhanced image stabilization when shooting movies using wide-angle settings. Capture smooth HD video (720p) with stereo sound for a truly natural, high-quality HD experience. The PowerShot SX210 IS not only goes wherever you do, but takes your photography and video to a whole new place, too.
