Does using the paper clip mean that the tray will never open by the eject button again?

Incase you have a disk inside and the tray is not ejecting there can be only 2 causes..either the disk is not on its place and this causes a block ..or the position ..or the drive is forced introduced too much inside and the tray is blocked somehow...and ven if it makes a sound like it tries to eject it is stuck ...
So ..if you are looking very careful you should have on the tray or ner by on the device ..a little hole that will fit a pin or a needle in ..or a very fine screw...this is the emergency eject ..and if you introduce a sharp object and press a little will unlock the tray ..
But if the cause it is not a stuck disk ..than you should see why it is stuck ..and my advice is to open the computer's lid..and unscrew the drive and move it a few millimeters out ..so the tray will not align with the other and will not be pressed..
try to see if the eject will work in this way I told you ...and if not ..the procedure is to get a wide blade..and gentle force the tray out and press the eject button in the same time..when you will synchronize the actions will came out this way too..

No..using the emergency open is just a way to open it when it has no power..and affects in no way its functions..after you see whats wrong it will be the same like new..this is not an improvisation but a function it have from factory ..

I have satellite C50D-B-10q. How do I open the CD/DVD drive?

Removing discs
To remove the disc, follow the steps as detailed below:
Do not press the eject button while the computer is accessing the optical disc drive. Wait for the optical disc drive indicator to go out before you open the disc tray. Also, if the disc is spinning when you open the disc tray, wait for it to stop before you remove it.
1. To pop the disc tray partially open, press the eject button. Gently pull the disc tray out until it is fully opened. When the disc tray pops open slightly, wait a moment to make sure the disc has stopped spinning before pulling the disc tray fully open.
2. The disc extends slightly over the sides of the disc tray so you can grasp it. Gently lift out the disc.
3. Push the center of the disc tray to close it. Press gently until it locks into place.

How to remove disc when the disc tray will not open:
Pressing the eject button will not open the disc tray when the computer power is off. If the power is off, you can open the disc tray by inserting a slender object (about 20 mm) such as a traightened paper clip into the manual eject hole near the eject button.

Manual eject hole:
Turn off the power before you use the manual eject hole. If the disc is spinning when you open the disc tray, the disc could fly off the spindle and cause injury.

As soon as you turn on your G5, hold down the mouse button. Keep holding it down until the disc ejects. Make sure you hold down the mouse button (right side or middle) as soon as you turn the computer on.

My CD drive won't Eject

Hi there.
There are 2 ways you can eject the DVD tray,
1st, double click on computer, right click on the DVD icon and select "eject" from the sub menu.
2nd, find a paperclip and straighten it, have a close look at the DVD near the eject button, you will find a small hole, poke the paperclip in and manually eject the tray.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!

DVD Eject tray stuck

I took a stake knife from the kitchen and pried open the tray door as I hit the eject button this got it to open, I then cycled eject and close, eject close a few times and this did the trick, I even played a DVD and that worked fine also. I had the problem with the tray not opening, and the display would read OPEN when I hit eject and I could hear it trying to open. So I wanted to make sure the tray wasn't just stuck or wedged before I took the system apart and looked for sripped out plastic gears or the belt being broken. GoodLuck rayruiz10@yahoo.com

Disc Tray Will Not Eject

Just next to the eject button on the actual recorder there should be a tiny pinhole.  If you use a small paperclip and insert it, then push, you should be able to manually eject the DVD.  Hope this helps!

DVD will not eject the tray

Open up the unit find the load and unload motor on the DVD carriage and turn it manually and this should eject the tray. You may even have to unscrew the carriage to get to the bottom of it to access the load and unload motor.
