Question about Washing Machines

Older Whirlpool front loader machine busted belt

I have a older Whirlpool front loader machine. It keeped tripping the trip switch in the meter box. I took off the back off and the belt had snapped. I tried to turn the drum manually from the back wheel but it is stuck. I turned it from the inside via the front, it moves, but does not sound or feel right. If I get a new belt it might not move the drum if it is stuck. What could be wrong with the drum? Thanks

It sounds like your bearings have seized and the reason that the drum is turning from the front but not from the pulley at the back is your "spider" or the y shaped metal support that connects the drum to the shaft that has the pulley on it is broken. this is a difficult repair which usually takes me about 3hrs. now you say that the machine is tripping your safety switch,i think that the steel drum, when it broke the support damaged the element .has it been noisy on spin? to repair this problem you need quite a few parts. now to verify that the drum has separated from the support is to turn the drum from the front and if the pulley at the back does not move; then the support is broken. hope this helps. please reply for further help if needed. good luck

My Whirlpool AWM 8120 front loader washing machine stops after working 6 minute in lcd panel show FH what the problem please ans? tanks tian from indonesia

F/H:
Condition

No water detected entering machine or Pressure switch trip not detected.

If after 30 seconds the control does not detect water entering machine and then valves will be turned off and the error code will be displayed.

Or

If the control has turned the water valves on and after 8 minutes the flow meter has detected 10.5 gallons of water passing through it, but has not detected the pressure switch trip, the valves will be turned off and the error code will flash.

Check/Repair:

Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display.

If there is no water in the unit:

1. Make sure that both valves at the water source(s) are turned on all the way.

2. Check for plugged or kinked inlet hoses or plugged screens in the inlet valves

3. Verify inlet valve operation

If there is water in the unit:

1. Verify Drain pump operation
2. Pressure Switch Hose is in good condition and properly connected to Tub and Pressure switch
Verify there is not a siphon problem
Verify wire harness connections to:Inlet Valves, Pressure Switch, Drain Pump, Flow Meter, and Central Control Unit (CCU)
Check all hoses for possible leaks
Verify pressure switch operation
Verify flow meter operation
Verify CCU operation

If this is intermittent, it would be very hard to determine the cause.
I myself have rarely run into this issue, and when I did, it was mainly caused by low water pressure into the water from the customers water supply, or clogged inlet water valve screens.

Make sure you don't have any duct tape or something around your drain pipe, it needs that air gap to prevent siphoning.

Maytag front loader 2000 series code LF followed instructions in manual and has no power. Outlet works

Hi, is this a new washing machine? If not, then these Maytag front loading washing machines use a paraffin locking switch in the front panel to lock the door during operation. Now, if the switch has gone south and trip the the lock switch without locking the door. Then the washing machine want turn on.

What is a parfin locking switch work is a small container with paraffin (wax) in it with a heater. When the washing machine is turn on. The control board indicate that the machine is in operation and a small amount of current is applied to the paraffin switch to the heating element. This make the parfin to expand trip the locking mechanism and locking door during operation. Keep the door lock from accidental openings. It will take about 4 minute after the washing machine has quite it running operation to open the front loader door. The paraffin needs to cool down to release the locking mechanism. stewbison

On Duet Front Loader- Error code F/H. Can see plenty of water coming in so I suspect pressure switch. Is this a common problem? I don't quite understand your pressure switch check procedure in your...

This error code F/H tells that no water entering the machine is detected during the fill step of the wash cycle. It can be due to siphoning, pressure switch not tripping or stuck in the empty position, or the water flow meter is not reading the correct water flow. Make sure that no water is draining out of the drain hose due to siphoning as water fills in and position the end of the hose to prevent such condition.

The pressure switch is stuck and not tripping if after 8 minutes the water flow meter has detected 10.5 gallons of water passing through it but the control has not detected the pressure switch trips. The water valves are then turned off and the error code is flashed. The error code is also flashed if after 30 seconds the water valves are turned on and no water is detected entering the machine due to sticking flow meter pinwheel or the flow meter is not positioned properly.

The flow meter is position sensitive. The pinwheel must be installed vertically. Any canter to it may cause the wheel to stick. Many times the F/H error code pops up only when HOT water passes through the flow meter. The hot water may be softening the hoses on either side of the meter, causing the flow meter to canter. Stuck or cantered pinwheel affects the flow meter's ability to read water flow accurately. Disconnect the hoses from the flow meter then blow air into the inlet to free a possible stuck pinwheel. Replace the flow meter if the pinwheel is totally stuck and cannot be freed.

Check the pressure hose for possible kinks or air leaks if the flow meter pinwheel is positioned vertically and turning freely. Kinks and air leaks in the pressure hose prevents pressure built up in the pressure switch dome and the pressure switch cannot trip. Check the pressure hose including its connections to the pressure switch and the bottom of the tub. Blow air into the pressure hose to clear possible clogs or kinks and check it for air leaks. Also blow air into the pressure switch dome to free a possible pressure switch contacts welded or stuck in the empty position. You should hear the pressure switch clicks if it is tripping. Replace the pressure switch if not tripping and the pressure hose has no kinks or air leaks.

My machine keeps flashing f and h and keeps stopping mid cycle......help!

Hi

FH error indicates no water detected entering the machine or pressure switch trip not detected. If after 30 seconds the control does not detect water entering machine and then valves will be turned off and the error code will be displayed. It can also happen if the control has turned the water valves on and after 8 minutes the flow meter has detected 10.5 gallons of water passing through it, but has not detected the pressure switch trip, the valves will be turned off and the error code will flash. You'll need to Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display. Please post a comment if you need more help.
