My TV will not turn on....it's red light just blinks....stand-by mode? I have called LG and they had me unplug it and hold the on/off switch down for 30 seconds then plug it back in. Still does the same thing. We bought this TV 5 years ago new and this is our first problem with it.

The main board or the power supply is seeing a start-up problem.
When there is a start-up problem discovered the TV will flash the red light and the TV will not be allowed to power up.
A TV service tech will have to check out all the different boards to find what the problem is. Sorry, there is not an easy fix for you issue.
I hope this information has helped you.
Good Luck.

I have a 55" LG TV model#55LD520-UA when I turn it on the red stand by light blinks twice and the LG logo and clock flash for maybe 2or, 3 seconds then the screen goes black

Hi there. I would advise you to unplug your tv from the wall. Wait approximately 5 minutes. Hold down the power button on the tv for 15 seconds without the tv plugged in. This is what they call power cycling. If plugging back in the tv does not work; you might have a power board issue. A typical power board/circuit board repair runs from $25 to $125.

My 5 week old lg tv won't switch on but has a flashing red power indicator light on, it just switched off whilst it was being veiwed and is now non responsive can anyone help

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Blinking codes details to many popular brand TVs are given. Surf the site with patience. If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

What if the tv is off and the red stand by light is not on what does that mean

A lot of people are confused about turning the TV 'off'. If there is a light showing when the TV is 'off' it is merely on 'stand-by' and not truly off. Off means being physically turned off by either the switch on the set or the mains. using the remote to turn 'off' the TV will not turn off it will only put the set into stand-by mode. In many cases if the TV is in stand-by mode, and then switched off, when the set is turned back on, it will still be in stand-by mode, and will need to be turned on with the remote. (even if you unplug, in some cases) All TV's are different, so will operate differently of course.

Need upstar TV Codes

I found that common LG codes (056) mostly work with UpStar (that uses LG panels, and generic electronics modules).

Watch out for stripped or missing hardware, including on table stand pod and VESA brackets, with UpStar's sloppy quality control. Also, they've reversed AC line Hot and Neutral and caused other problems in their California service facility, shipping fire and electrocution hazard TV's.

Tv wont turn on, just red light blinks

From the owner's manual of that model:
If a red light is blinking on the front of the TV, the set has entered protection mode. If this happens it usually means you simplyneed to reset the TV. Unplug the TV for 60 seconds. Then plug the TV in and try to switch it on. If the light is still blinking red, call the Customer Care Center at 1-800-531-0039

What is the code for LG 37LE4500 TO WORK WITH SKY REMOTE CONTROL

I also have an LG TV. I used this 4 digit code: 0742.

TO PROGRAM THE remote USING THE 4 DIGIT CODE:

1. Turn your TV on.

2. Press tv on your Sky remote control.

3. Hold down select and the red button together for about two seconds, until the red light on the Sky remote control blinks twice.

4. Press tv on your Sky remote control again.

5. Key in the four digit code for your brand of TV. The light on the Sky remote control blinks twice. If the light blinks once only, recheck the code for your brand of TV and start again at Step 1.

6. Press the standby button on your Sky remote control. If your TV switches off, press select. The light on the Sky remote control blinks twice (code stored). If your TV does not switch off, press tv, then press the standby button. Repeat this (press tv, then standby) until your TV turns off, then press select (stores code).

TV does not turn on. Stand By LED blinks 4 times and pauses and blinks 4 times again Tv will not turn on...when plugged in the red stand by light flashes 4 times...you can hear the tv turn on but a black...

On older Sony, sometimes a power surge causes the set to be in shut down mode. Try unplugging for 5 minutes and then plug in and try. This many times will fix.
