I have an nano ipod and I can not transfer songs from my computer using windows 7 to my ipod. The computer sync says to connect device and the ipod is say connected, but nothing is saying it is connected...

Be sure you have the latest version of iTunes. You can also try downloading software called Songbird. If none of this works do a hard reset of your iPod and put it into disk mode. You won't lose any of your songs.
1. Disconnect from the computer.
2. Press and hold the center and menu button until the Apple appears on screen
3. Before the Apple is gone, press and hold the center and left back button until it says "Disk mode".
4. Connect and try transferring songs.

If that works, you'll have to reset after you're done. Hope I've helped, I work on iPods and they can be a real pain.

Trying to add songs from my computer to my ipod using windows media player trying to sync it for music on windows vista well under sync tab it does not reconize the device keeps saying connect a device

iPods connect to your computer via iTunes.
You can download iTunes here free: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
All the music files currently in your Windows Media Player can all be transferred into iTunes, so no worries about losing your music.

Hope that helps.

No music

try this first http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ click on download now (this should be the latest version of itunes). once downloaded on pc / laptop it will ask you if you wish to have your media (audio/video/pictures) converted to itunes say yes it will search for or you can have you want put on itunes..........once this is done connect your ipod to pc/laptop (on left side a window pane is open you should see on top the files on pc , bottom is your ipod) you can sync your music or manually click and drag file to file. i recommend manually...one note when connected always always eject the ipod from pc...never never just pull plug out..................happy listening

Hi,
iPods always say 'do not disconnect' when you connect it to the computer. That is what they are supposed to do. iTunes should open a short time after that. If i Tunes doesn 't open, then click on it to open it. You should see your iPod on the left side.

I suspect that you are not using iTunes to put music into your iPod. You cannot 'drag' music into your iPod. ITunes has to put it there.

You should have all of your music in your iTunes library that you want to put into your iPod. You have to use iTunes to put music into your iPod. Actually, this is the easiest way.

Once your music is in iTunes, plug your iPod into the computer. When your iPod appears in iTunes on the left side, click on the music tab and tell iTunes what music and play lists you want to put into your iPod.

Then click sync at the bottom. The iPod will go into sync mode until all of your music is loaded. Then it will say sync completed. You can then click the arrow next to your iPod to release it from iTunes.

When you want to release it from your computer, click on the little green icon at the bottom right of your computer screen. If you don't see it, click the white arrow. Click on the green plug icon and wait until you see safely isconnect mass storage device from the computer. Click on that and wait until you see, 'It is now safe to disconnect your mass storage device from the computer". Disconnect your iPod now.

Hope that helps.

Ipod nano 4G silver not syncing

Try pluging in the iPod and when it does not sync press F1, this tells the computer to update any USB port but usually doen't work. Then try reseting the iPod while plugged in. You do this by holding the Menu and Middle button for five seconds. Also go into my computer to see if your iPod has shown up there. I think that a 4th Gen Nano would still be under warrenty. Make an appointment to the Apple store's Genious Bar. If it doesn't sync there, they may replace it.
