Last night the power went out for a split second and came back on immediately. I have the JVC hd-61z886. At first the blue power button was lit and the red indicator was flashing. Then I unplugged it and let it sit for a half hour. Now I have nothing. What could this mean?

Hi,
If you do not see any power indication in tv that means power supply board got defective, normally power indicator lit when tv got plugged in and if that indicator is not lit that shows problem with power supply board and most probably fuse got blew off for some reason.
If you are handy with electronics stuff repair then unplug tv, take off back of tv and follow power cord that will take you near main fuse, replace it if it is blown and replug tv back in, if fuse blow off again then power supply board need to be replaced by tv tech.
Hope these info will help you.
Thanks.

Where can I go for directions on the removal of the rear bezel? I am handy, but know that one should be well informed before attempting to tear apart electronic items.

Lower part of back cover will be removed to access inside tv, top of rear is projection system that has mirror.
Please confirm its JVC HD-61Z886 or any other model?

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. It seems to be an issue with the power supply board and/or a component on that board has gone bad and needs to be replaced. To start with open the back of the unit and inspect the power supply board for any bulged/swollen capacitors, also if you can test the power supply board with a multimeter. Power surge might have caused a component to go bad as from everything that you have described it seems to be a power issue. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

This happened before about a year ago and I unplugged it and it worked after that. Is there a reset mechanism?

    To reset
    it follow these steps:

    1. Turn off the television and
      wait for 5 minutes.

    2. After 5 minutes unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.

    3. Let the television remain without power for more then 1 minute.

    4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. If the television is
plugged into a power surge protector, remove it from there and plug it directly
    into the wall outlet.

If the issue is not resolved then this might have happened due to
over-voltage and as I said earlier please check the power supply unit for swollen/bulged capacitors
and burnt wires/components on the power supply board of your TV. Also, you should try
and turn off the TV for 8-10 hours to reset it. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

    Thanks
    Rylee
