Why the time delay fan switch on the furnace does not come on immediately

a time delay is installed for energy efficiency. after all, it's the biggest "new craze." in my opinion it's just ANOTHER reason why newer machines don't last as long as older ones. the more bells and whistles, the issues. is your fan not running because of a faulty time delay? bypass it and forget about it.

Either way, you will probably have to contact a local dealer because their website is useless.

I just had central air installed. The evaporator coil was installed on the return air side of the furnace. Will this cause mold and condensation in my furnace?

Hello, the evaporator must be installed in the supply plenum to work properly and allow cool air to be supplied into the living space. I would call the company that installed it and have them install it properly.

The contactor or relay that turns the coils on has burnt the contacts closed....therefore the contacts are not releasing and shutting down the coils...

A rap to the side of the furnace may knock them loose but they will need to be replaced...

You can also shut them down by turning off the power to the furnace at the breaker.

Had blackout and now furnace won't start

The biggest items to check after blackout are the circuit boards and the transformer. Also if the furnace was running when it happened, the unit could trip on limit...BUT if this happened the blower would run nonstop with no activity of heat. If no blower, you will need to start with 120v to furnace and then 24v from transformer.

You will likely need to install an isolation relay in the W circuit from the thermostat. Some thermostats rob a small current through the W circuit to power the thermostat. This small current can be enough to start the fan circuit timer. You can test this by disconnecting W at the furnace and allowing the timer to shut down. If the fan shuts off with the W disconnected you can install a simple relay.

The relay coil will be connected to Common on one side and the W from the thermostat to the other. Then you will run a wire from R on the furnace to the relay and from the N.O. Contacts to the W terminal on the furnace. This will kill that signal that is starting the timer and the W can steal it's power through the coil back to common.

You don't have the t'sat wires to the outdoor unit hooked up. They should be on the y & c terminals. If they are you may have a burnt out contactor coil. It should read 24volts at the contactor coil when you are calling for cooling
