I pressed the end of cycle button for 3 seconds, but this did not solve the problem

  • shawn1204 May 26, 2010

I tried pressing pause and cancel and disconnecting the power for two minutes; that did not solve the problem.

  • shawn1204 May 26, 2010

I pressed the pause and cancel button twice and then unpluged the washer and left it unpluged over night; that did not solve the problem.

The MCU may have confirmation of door lock but the CCU may not be getting it. This is caused by corrosion on the door lock connection. Simply unplugging the lid lock assembly and clean the contacts may fix it.

  • shawn1204 May 26, 2010

I am going to try that now. But I still can not get the latch to open. I pulled down on the release handle, but nothing happens; the door is open and the lock is in the locked position; and will not move even when I stick a screew driver in it and pull the release handle.

Thank you for your help last night. I was able to remove the switch after reading the manual you sent me; and I ordered a new switch today. Will the trouble codes automaticly erase when I install the new switch, or is there something I need to do to clear them? I'm still not sure what F34 is or how to clear it.

  • shawn1204 May 27, 2010

Press the Pause/Cancel button twice to cancel and stop the cycle and start a new cycle. Unplug the washer for at least 15 minutes to reset it should the Pause/Cancel button does not cancel and stop it.

Provide more information should you need further advice including the exact model number and codes flashing on the Estimated Time Remaining display, if there's any.

The problem cannot be solved by mere resetting the washer because this a serious one that makes the user console interface board and the central control unit suspects. Indicate if there's any sign of power going to the washer such as lit or flashing LEDs on the console. The washer has a built-in diagnostics that flashes a code should a problem is encountered. Provide more information as we provide advice based on the information given by the customer. The more information provided, the more accurate the advice, and more chance the problem is addressed.

Diagnostics can also be performed to verify the operation of the washer's major functions and determine the cause of the problem. This requires the exact model number of the washer for the specific diagnostics activation procedure.

  • shawn1204 May 26, 2010

I performed the diagnostics test and got two codes F22 and F34. All of the switches and LEDs on the control panel seem to be operating.

  • Jahn27
    Jahn27 May 26, 2010

The F22 fault code indicates door lock error as what you got now. The door lock is malfunctioning; check the connection on the central control unit and the in door lock and assembly itself. Replace the door lock and switch assembly if there's no issue found in the connections.

There is a manual unlocking tab located at the bottom of the door lock
and switch assembly. Disconnect power to the washer before accessing it.

    Remove
the three screws attaching the lower front access panel to the cabinet
then pull the panel down and off the cabinet. You can prop up the bottom
front edge of the washer or cushion and lean it against the wall to
    access the screws more easily.

Reach up along the inside of the
front panel and locate the bottom of the door lock and switch assembly
on the right side. Locate the tear-drop shaped tab then gently pull it down until a click
    is heard.

  • Jahn27
    Jahn27 May 26, 2010

The F34 appears only during a Clean Washer cycle when items are detected in the washer. The Clean Washer cycle is used to keep the washer fresh and clean and the basket must be empty.

Press "Pause/Cancel" two times to cancel the cycle. Press "Drain/Spin" if there is water in the tub. Unplug the washer or disconnect power for two minutes, then plug the washer back in or reconnect power.

If the washer won't finish a cycle, it probably means that
    your timer
went bad or stalled. You can take the control panel off and look
at the contacts for scorching or corrosion or broken wires.

  • Nate Stansfield
    Nate Stansfield May 26, 2010

F34 is close inside washer during cleaning cycle. You will have to try and reset the machine again.

Hi.

Check if there is an error code on display. That can help if the problem happens again.

Common error codes are:

F20:Filling/inlet problem.
F21:Drain/pressure switch problems
F22: Door latch failure.

To reset press "Pause/Cancel" button twice. This will cancel the cycle. Afte cancelling the cycle check if there is water in the tub and press "Drain/Spin" to get rid of the water.

After resetting cycle disconnect power cord or trip the circuit breaker to cut power for a couple of minutes and reset the machine.

Regards.

Ginko.

    Hi.

F22 is the door lock. F34 happens when you run a clean cycle with detergent or load inside the machine. Reset the cycle again, disconnect and run a cycle with empty basket.

I have a Whirlpool Duet front loader Washer approximately 6 years old. The control lock is on and I can't start the washer. How do I resolve this problem.

This advise is for Kenmore Elite and Whirlpool Duet front loader washers and dryers with a Control Lock problem.

This may or may not be an indication of a serious problem. In the majority of the cases, this is a simple operator error. Nearly all these model appliances have some sort of Control Lock feature on the front panel now. This is a designed safety feature that is used to prevent small children from manipulating the controls. The controls can be easily locked or unlocked by pressing and holding the following button on the front panel:

Whirlpool Duet Washer - Press and hold the END OF CYCLE SIGNAL button for 3 seconds.

Whirlpool Duet Dryer - Press and hold the END OF CYCLE SIGNAL button for 3 seconds.

Kenmore Elite Washer - Press and hold the DRAIN/SPIN button for 3 seconds.

Kenmore Elite Dryer - Press and hold the AUTO DRY LEVEL button for 3 seconds.

These instructions may not be all inclusive for all Kenmore and Whirlpool models, but they are the most common. Chances are, if you have a Control Lock feature, the instructions will be printed on the front panel adjacent to the button that is required to lock or unlock the controls.

NOTE: These instructions may also work for newer model Maytag, Hotpoint, Admiral and Frigidaire model front loaders as well. Refer to your owner's manual or front panel for instructions pertaining to your specific model.

If the Control Lock feature will not lock or unlock the appliance, unplugging the unit for AT LEAST 30 minutes is recommended in order to reset the main control board. In many cases this is all that is required to correct momentary glitches.

Whirlpool duet washer problem

The following link explains the "FH" error code:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r615354-fh_error_code_whirlpool_duet_kenmore

First, try to unplug the washer for AT LEAST 30 minutes in an attempt to reset the Central Control Unit (CCU). Sometimes this is all that is required to correct momentary glitches with the unit. If the error code reappears, then proceed with the steps outlined in the link I provided for you.

This is one of the more "involved" error codes that you may need spend some time with. Although, it may NOT be a difficult repair, it still may require some diligence to figure out the cause. I would recommend checking your washer installation for a potential siphoning problem and then check the drain pump as these are the more common causes. If you require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
