does the track move or just e1 right away? if you have 5-10seconds of track movement before it e1's, it's a speed sensor issue. If it E1's right away, you've probably blown the lower control board on the machine.

E1 on the t20 is a speed sensor issue. If you unplug the unit and wait a few minutes, plug it back in and turn it on. If the error clears and it doesn't return, you can use the machine normally. If it does come back, typically, check the following items. The speed sensor is a hall sensor (magnetic), meaning it reads a magnet embedded into the front drive roller. Take the motor cover off and ensure that 1 - the sensor is less than 3mm from the magnet. 2- the magnet is actually in the drive roller pulley and 3 - the drive roller is turning when machine starts.

E1 will appear when the board doesn't receive a signal within 10seconds of starting the machine. If all 3 variables above are met, you can check the sensor itself by unplugging it from the board, (trace the wire back and remove the molar clip from the board) and checking the continuity with a tester. Closed or 0 when the magnet is in front of the sensor, open or 1 when the magnet is moved away. If the sensor is good, within range of the magnet (reading the magnet with a continuity test is a good indicator of placement), the magnet is in the front roller pulley and the roller is turning when the machine turns on, you're more than likely going to be looking at a bad lower board. (circuit board by the drive motor),

Sorry the problem I described is not about a Projection Television but a computer crt vdu.

This could be if a crt unit either a weak crt that when it warms up comes up a bit----the chassis might also have inside on the flyback or elsewhere a master screen control which could be turned up slightly.

Least likely but possible is the filament voltage in the tube may be a bit low and usually comes off the high voltage or Flyback Transformer (same part).

Screen doesn't come on when I turn computer on

does your pc appear to boot up, do you hear a single bleep to confirm it has passed its BIOS checks.
Is your VDU in standby mode - ie is the power light either orange or flashing - if it is off then check the power cables and connections to the VDU - if the power light is light, check the vga cable to ensure it is plugged it at both ends and none of the pins are bent or damaged (don't be fooled some vga connectors do not have all of the available 15 pins in them) - if you have another PC or laptop you can plug the screen into it then try that to ensure it works - if it does then i suspect that your video card is faulty. check your manufacturers motherboard specification to see which card it can take and replace it

This sounds to be an issue with the processor. Try removing the processor, blowing it off, and reseating it firmly and properly. Put it back together and see if this cures it. Keep in mind that a malfunctioning processor can cause an overheating problem just as easily as a fan or heatsink.
