Question about Kohler Highline - Comfort Height Two-Piece Elongated Toilet with Left-Hand

1 Answer

I have a Kohler Highline toilet that sputters

I have a Kohler ''Highline'' toilet that flushes great (lots of power) but when the tank is filling, I hear this sputtering sound (tapping sound), sort of ''chick-a-chick-a-chick-a . . . '' and I cannot figure out what is going on. Sometimes, if I reach inside the tank and touch the cylindrical float ball??? it stops the tapping. What's up? This toilet does not use a regular oval or round float ball, this is a rubber/plastic cylinder with a hole toward one edge (like an off center doughnut) that ''climbs'' the plastic pole as the tank fills. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP!

In my desperation to get this fixed, I looked for other articles and only one even mentioned that the water pressure may be too high, so I backed off the inlet valve (close to the floor) and it quietened it down to nothing . . . it took some time to get the adjustment just right (was a fine line between some noise and the tank taking too long to fill) but I finally found it!

Did you try to lubricate with something waterproof to stop the squeak? How about grease? Petroleum jelly, something. Or how about a weight on the high side to balance it out as it goes up. A lead sinker or a penny. Hope this helps.

Brand new kohler highline k 11499 96. Tank fills fine, but when I flush the toilet it lets about one fourth, if that, Water out of tank into bowl before canister float slams shut???

most modern flappers(what you call a canister float if i understand you correctly) have some type of adjustment feature which controls this.(like maybe rotating the flapper one way or the other) the old fashioned way was to take up the slack in the chain attached to the flapper so that when someone pushes the handle the flapper is pulled higher. make & model # or a pic would help me say w/certainty how yours works. just text me here if you need anything else and good luck:)

How do I adjust the pressure in a Kohler pressurized flush toilet

You cannot adjust the pressure on the toilet. But you can adjust the stop setting screw at the top of the float arm. If the water is coming in too fast you can adjust the valve where the toilet water line connects to the wall water supply. Closing the valve a little will slow down the flow of water and it will take a little longer to refill the toilet water tank.

The bowl will not hold water. This is the second toilet we tried because Kohler thought it may be a faulty tank but same problem. Everything works correctly in the tank but after flushing the bowl will...

the tube that goes from the fill valve to the fill tube may not be installed correctly. the water must be going in the tube and not the tank. also it is a water conserving toilet so it uses less water also it is a comfort height toilet and to make it taller the bowl is extended so the water may seem even more shallow.

I just got a new Kohler toilet from HD. After installed it, it keeps running water fro every 10 minutes.

the water level could be adjusted too high and it is running down the overflow tube. if the fill valve makes a noise trying to fill every 10 minutes then you have a flapper on the flush mechanism that is not sealing properly. it may be out of shape or have something stuck under it.

The flush valve does stay open long enough after flushing

Which style of flush valve do you have? If it is the dual-flush option (solids/liquids) I do not know how to adjust those. If you have a traditional style, then the flapper or ball is closing too soon. You need to adjust the guide arm (flush ball) higher or shorten the chain between the flapper and the handle. Adjust this carefully or you will have it fail to seat and the toilet will constantly run.

I hope this helps.

Kohler Highline Class V tech toilet. Bowl does not fill. Why? What can I do to fix it?

Check tank for fill line running from fill valve to overflow tube. It will be a 1/4 " line that allows the tank and bowl to fill. It should be connected from fill valve and connected at the top of overflow by a clip or hanger.

Check out the water level in tank to make sure it is filling to line on overflow or within 5/8" to top of overflow pipe.

Valve adjustment

You need to replace the flapper and you will need to purchase one specifically for the Kohler toilet. I have the same toilet and tried using a generic flapper and from experiance, it didn't work until I bought the correct one and I'm a plumber! Have a great night.
