Well for 15A the minimum wire size in your cord should 14 gauge, Length can't really be specified but you want to go for less resistance in the cord, thicker wire and less length will give you less resistance (more so thickness). If your grinder works fine without the extension cord, I would recommend getting a heavy duty extension cord with 12 gauge wire and trying that.

WHAT ARE THE MOST COMMON PROBLEMS WITH RIDGID GRINDERS?

Most common problems with small grinders in general (all brands) fall into two main catagories. Low power situation and lack of lubrication /debris or maintainance. Electric power tools are used with an extension cord. If too long of cord or improper gauge wire is used, the tool will heat up and burn the brushes, switch or copper winding (lower life of tool). If you feel the tool getting hot either let it cool or check power supply. Tools such as grinders generate lots of dust/debris that enters the tool. Abrasive dust entering tool prevents proper cooling and eats varnish off winding / wears carbon brushs and commutator. Grinders/polishers get packed inside with fluff coming off bonnets preventing cooling. All this overheating prevents grease from properly lubricating gears. Check gearcase for good lubrication and keep inside of the grinder clean. Good luck

I left my Makita 9555NB angle grinder out in the rain overnight. I brought it in out of the rain the next morning and left it to dry inside the shed for two days. It now seems dried out. Would it be safe...

Ive had some power tools left underwater in wheel barrows that filled up.

It is not the safest thing to go trying. But if it is dried out, I would plug it into a surge protector, switch it on, and set it away from you, then turn the surge protector on.

go to your local marina and buy a simple on off switch or take the wires off the switch on your grinder and hook them up to a extension cord and put an inline light switch on the cord.

What gage wire extension cord to use with B&D 19" electric mower

I'm assuming this isn't a rechargeable model, as you didn't list the model number. These usually have a 12amp motor. The cord size would depend on the lenght. At about 50' a 14ga would be fine. At 100' you should go to a 12ga (copper)

Used extension cord on freezer then it stopped getting cold.

never use a extension cord unless it is of a larger gauge wire size eg: #12. as opposed to standard #16 or #14. the compressor/motor will not get needed power and burns out.
