Question about Sharp XR-11XC DLP Projector
The old bulb burned out with a loud pop. I put in the new bulb, the fan gos on but after about 5 minutes the machine turns off without the light ever coming on.
The pop you heard was not likely the lamp but a part in either the main power supply or the ballast. This is not a DIY repair. I would suggest that you get a repair estimate from a local service shop. My first inclination is that the ballast has failed.
The ballast is part number: DSETUD147FMF9
Total cost: $285 with a core of $120. This means that upon the return of the "bad" ballast, you will be refunded $120 making hte final cost $165 for the part.
Hope this helps,
