Question about GE Spacemaker JVM1640SJ Microwave Oven
Fans came on microwave because stovetop burners were left on.after they were turned off, microwave powercorg were disconnected and reconnected.screen says reset and no buttons works.
The membrane keypad has probably been damaged due to the excessive heat.
I always recommend that you use the vent fan whenever you're cooking on the stove top to keep heat, steam, and grease out of the controls and door panels.
If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.
There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.
At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.
If you would like to have us do this repair for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs nationwide.
But please note that for some GE models, the membrane keypad is not available as a separate part, so you would have to order the control panel frame assembly which comes with a new keypad.
In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame. That is a simple do-it-yourself job.
disconnect the strip as shown in the photo below, then remove the screws that hold your circuit board in the old frame.
Then carefully (since the display is made of glass) move your circuit board to the new frame, and reassembly is the reverse of disassembly.
Feel free to contact us directly with your full model number and we can tell you if yours is one of these models, and if so, we'll also give you the part number you need to order and a link to the best priced supplier.
Either way, we can let you know what your options and costs would be and send you other helpful info.
We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

The problem is almost certainly on the control panel, which we repair nationwide for $39.95 postpaid.
This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.
This often can affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inopoerable or stuck on.
