Trying to hook up the polk speakers to my hp pavilion mx70, but no audio is coming out when i connect the color coordinated wires to their correct spots

First try connecting headphones to the output to confirm there is an output. If there is , then your external speakers may be faulty or require power. If there is no output on the headphones then check your volume settings.

Do you mean you are trying to hook up the power plugs for those buttons to function? Look in your manual their should be a detailed photo of where to hook those up also they are normally numbered 2,4,6,8,10 on the left and right is 1,3,5,7,9 depending on how you look at the board

I cant get the HDD LED to work... yes it is hooked up right...

Some of the wires going from the power switch, reset switch, speaker, and LEDs must be attached to the motherboard the correct way. That is, they must not only be placed in the right spot where they need to go, but they also must be connected with positive and negative wires on the right pins.

If your HDD LED is not lighting up when the HDD is "thinking", try reversing the cable where the HDD LED wire plugs in (just flip it so the black wire is where the non-black wire was). I tried to find a good picture of your motherboard to guide you but they were not very helpful. From squinting really hard, I believe the spot they should plug into the board is by the CMOS battery. There might be printed words on the board surrounding the area to connect them that tells you which two pins are for the HDD LED.

Keyboard stays on

I would first Reset the CMOS... do this by switching the jumper pin cap from 2-3 to 1-2 then give it power/and immediately power off.. then reset jumper cap position to original spot... the jumper can be located usually near the CMOS battery.

Hooking up to a EP-8KDA3J Motherboard?

You can find the online documentation on the manufacterers website; http://www.epox.nl/english/products/motherboard/8kda3.htm Their server is extremely slow however, so you may find this more useful; The file is 7.5MB http://temp.it-mate.co.uk/Epox_mu-8KDA3J_11.pdf Downloaded from DriverGuide (requires free membership if you want to download it from there yourself, instead of my server); http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=454065
