Is the switch on the inside loose? In other words, when you push the power switch into the on position, do you feel the spring friction? Or is it gone? If it's gone, you need to replace the internal power switch. The following website sells them and does this type of work pretty reasonable:http://store.richspsxparts.com/pspbucibo...

Take it apart really carefully, Get a high powered magnified glass and check all of the fuses and chips for damage then reassemble it. If it does not turn on get a new one.

Something more than likely chipped off/broke from the impact of the drop. Have you tried opening the PSP? *Note - opening your PSP will void your warranty.

I dropped my psp and now it wont read any games do you know what could be wrong with it please help could it be a loose wire or loose input jack thingy

It is possible the power cable has come out. Open it up and check if there are any wires hanging out. Unfortunately something internal may have been damaged.

Be careful when undoing it - here is a guide to help you: http://www.informit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=380915

PSP wont read games

Did you ever drop it? Usually if a PSP will not read UMD's, either the laser is dirty or it has been moved. If you dropped it, the laser has probably been moved. You'd have to take the whole entire thing apart to move the laser back, assuming you knew the position it should be in in the first place. Even if you have dropped it, the first thing I would do is to pick up a UMD drive cleaning kit for around $10 and try that. If that does not work, I would suggest sending it to be repaired. I hope this helps!

Wont stay on

got this same problem before, dropped a psp and after that it only powers on for a while and turns off.soon i found out that the main board is twisted.when i bend the psp a little bit it turns on normally, but when i release the prissure from the grip it shuts down.the best solutiion for that is to dismantle the psp and reheat the main board using a hot air machine for about 3 min.for the mother board to return to its original position.

Oops,... i dropped my psp

Hey Dude,

All things are fixable. Try going into recovery mode. This is done by Pressing and holding the R button when powering up the PSP. You then can press the brightness control button to see the firmware. This might help you reboot the PSP. If it is worst than this, you may consoder sending it back to Sony for repair, although they usually do not want to fix a Squooshed PSP. I would not tell them you Sat on it. You can call SONY support at 1-800-345-7669.
If you cannot get them to Repair it, you can check out my website, www.Playstationclinic.com . I can fix it for a very reasonable price.

Power problems

Hi Gohan102,

Open the battery compartment, and remove the battery.  Look at the bottom inside corner for a little square sticker with has marks on it. is it dark or light,  If it is dark, your PSP has come in contact with moisture. I suspect that your PSP has gotten wet or damp.  If the sticker is dark, you need to keep your battery out for about 2 days, and keep the UMD door open and the whole PSP kept in a dry environment.  Try it after 2 days of drying to see if it is recovered. Good luck Gohan....
