Question about Samsung SyncMaster 931B 19" LCD Monitor
This problem may be caused by defective capacitors on the power board. This fix requires techical skills and should not be attempted by anyone not familiar with such work. If you still want to attempt it, here are some instructions. You will need soldering skills and equipment. 1. Remove the back half of the case. It does not connect to anything inside the monitor, so it can be removed completely. Remove the pedestal by unscrewing the wing-screw on the bottom, This allows good access to the slots on the bottom of the case between the two halves. Use a screwdriver about the same size as the 2 slost, insert and twist at each. You may want to wrap some tape around the blade to protect the plastic. Work your way around the case using a second screwdriver to keep separation. Use the corners especially because the plastic is stronger there. Remove the back. 2. Unplug all cables for the metal pcb chassis. The 4 small ones have 2 plastic covers that unsnap. 3. Lift the metal chassis and flip it over. 4. Remove the 4 screws holding the main pcb and lift the board and flip it over on top of the smaller board so you can see the capacitors. 5. Examine the caps for bulges, replace any that do not look flat on the top. Try Radio Shack for replacements. 6. Reassemble by following these steps in reverse. Note: the metal chassis is resting on but not fastened to the panel, and is restrained by tabs in the back cover, so keep that in mind while snapping the cover back on. Some photos are attached here:
