Hoover 2000w power edge cleaning:Had the hoover for approx 3 months. excellent when working but I've had to replace the black rubber band that rotates the edge roller 3 times. Had to replace twice in 4 days. now the third band has snapped. The steel spindel opposite the edge roller that you connect the rubber band to gets extremely hot so I'm not sure if this is the problem.

You have to remove the motor cover, There I believe 5 screw, take off the light lens and remove the screw holding the light. It should then pull off. You say you have power to the Vac, but do you have power to the motor. There also is a thermo by the motor, sometimes they open up, then the motor won't run.

These motors have a fuse incorporated in the field winding and it sounds like that blew. These motors sometimes overheat at the front bearing and the bearing will melt into the plastic housing. This will cause the fuse to blow. It sounds like that's your problem. You can remove the motor by removing the three screws on the bottom of the powerhead and then check the front bearing for any bubbling or blistering in the plastic housing. The shaft of the motor should turn easily.

Sounds like the brush roll is bad. Did you check the ends to make sure they turn freely? If not, replace it.

Its a possibility then that if the fuse has been replaced that the cable inside has either come apart or you have a broken switch. If its only a year then you should be covered automatically with Hoover's guarantee.

Hi thanks so much - the vacuum is an upright morphy richards model number 73360.
We kept re-alligning the band into the middle and rolling the brush round several times with our hands to make sure it wouldn't spin off. The roller that the band fits on is very wide so you just put the band in what you think looks like the middle.
It was unbelievably sensitive and had to have it "exactly perfect" to the millimetre otherwise the band would just continue to slip off. It appears to be working for now so lets see how long it lasts before the smell of burning again! Many thanks for advice.
