Problems with hoover 2000w power edge cleaning

Hoover 2000w power edge cleaning:Had the hoover for approx 3 months. excellent when working but I've had to replace the black rubber band that rotates the edge roller 3 times. Had to replace twice in 4 days. now the third band has snapped. The steel spindel opposite the edge roller that you connect the rubber band to gets extremely hot so I'm not sure if this is the problem.

SOURCE: Hoover windtunnel will NOT turn on

You have to remove the motor cover, There I believe 5 screw, take off the light lens and remove the screw holding the light. It should then pull off. You say you have power to the Vac, but do you have power to the motor. There also is a thermo by the motor, sometimes they open up, then the motor won't run.

SOURCE: Hoover WindTunnel Canister: Roller brush motor not turning

These motors have a fuse incorporated in the field winding and it sounds like that blew. These motors sometimes overheat at the front bearing and the bearing will melt into the plastic housing. This will cause the fuse to blow. It sounds like that's your problem. You can remove the motor by removing the three screws on the bottom of the powerhead and then check the front bearing for any bubbling or blistering in the plastic housing. The shaft of the motor should turn easily.

SOURCE: Hi The band snapped the other

Sounds like the brush roll is bad. Did you check the ends to make sure they turn freely? If not, replace it.

Its a possibility then that if the fuse has been replaced that the cable inside has either come apart or you have a broken switch. If its only a year then you should be covered automatically with Hoover's guarantee.

SOURCE: rubber band slipping to edge of the silver spoke

Hi thanks so much - the vacuum is an upright morphy richards model number 73360.

We kept re-alligning the band into the middle and rolling the brush round several times with our hands to make sure it wouldn't spin off. The roller that the band fits on is very wide so you just put the band in what you think looks like the middle.

It was unbelievably sensitive and had to have it "exactly perfect" to the millimetre otherwise the band would just continue to slip off. It appears to be working for now so lets see how long it lasts before the smell of burning again! Many thanks for advice.

When i switch my henry hoover on it works fine for exactly 50 seconds then switches of for approx same time then comes alive again for 50 secs and so on...driving me nuts.

sounds like some sort of blockage, If there is a blockage in the hose, or if the filters are dirty, the thermal overload switch will cut in saving the motor from overheating, Clean filters and check for blockage in hose. Hope this helps.

I have a Vax turbo force 2000w hoover and it doesnt pick up theres hardly any suction and then it cuts out. Any ideas what the problem could be?

Yep,

Your filters are clogged. As a result the motor is straining and overheating, then a thermal cutout operates.

Clean the filters in the top of the vax and if you are ussing a cloth bag empty and wash ot. If a paper bag, replace it.

All should be well

go to hover for the owners manual sounds like it might be a clogged internal filter stifling the normal flow of cooling air around the motor

I have an old Hoover turbo power approx 1986 I think its a U1102, the problem is it doesn’t pick up anymore and i wondered if it had some sort of filter on it, I’ve cleaned all the tubes put new bag on but its still got weak suction, could you make any suggestions, thanks…

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
The biggest thing on a Hoover Upright is the belt change and the brushes on the brushroll to be of good length, you said you did change the bag and sometimes if it is a hard shell vacuum there is a filter below the bag the needs cleaning or changing, if you have a soft shell or cloth outer bag, you can clean the inside the of the bag or replace the outside bag because even the pores of the bad lose it’s filtration such as your clothes will loosen up after you wash them a few times – the fabric is not as tight as it used to be. The belt change for a flat belt is every 4 to 6 months, and keep the extra belts in a Ziploc bag in the refrigerator. Also check for any bad gaskets that could be leaking, I may suggest a vacuum tune up @ you local vac dealer. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Removing nozzle on Hoover Steamvac

I'm sure you have found a solution to this problem by now, but I am having the same problem removing the nozzle, and just read another persons post where they suggested buying the "Nozzle Clean-Out Tool" available on Hoover's website for $1.00 plus $5.00 in shipping. The part number is 39514001. It worked for this person, so I'm going to try it. Not a big investment, at least, in case it doesn't work!
