You'll need a standard USB printer cable, available at Walmart, pharmacies, almost any retail store.

Hi Barbra,
Check all connections.
Have you installed the printer drivers?
Try un-installing and installing the printer drivers again.
Was there change in the operating system?[Say you were using windows xp and now you're using windows vista]You may need to install the driver that corresponds with your operating system. You can download the drivers from this link:www.siliconguide.com/drivers/device/583/

Hope this helps.Thanks!

Trying to install with my PC which does not have Dell Printers listed in Installation Procedure.

Try installing the printer using the instructions located at...

A940 All-In-One Printer owners thread (W7)

You'll need to disconnect the printer. Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.

Restart your computer.

Install the proper drivers. You'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on)

I NEED TO INSTALL A940 TO MY PC

go to the manufacturer's website www.dell.com using the computer you will be using the printer with. They have free downloads of all of the drivers you will need for any printer they make. Unless you are doing some unusual things, the simple install works well. With a decent internet connection speed it won't take very long to download, then just follow the on-screen directions. Super simple.

Hope this helps.

I am trying to add my a940 printer to my HP laptop. Everything was successfully added except the actual printer..please help

Connect the printer to the computer - with the printer still ON; restart the computer and see if it "finds new hardware".

If this helps, please indicate so.

Telephone line connection

Two options:

1) Pick up a phone line splitter (Radio Shack or just about any other retailer has them) that has a plug on one side and two jacks on the other. Plug this into the phone jack where the line to your computer is connected. Plug the cord to the computer back into one jack on the splitter and plug the line to the fax machine into the other jack. (If it will physically fit into the space on the back of the computer, you can just plug the splitter into the modem connector, plug the line cord into one jack and the fax cord into the other.)

2) (Useful if the phone jack is behind furniture or just hard to get at.) Get a phone line splitter with all jacks (two on one side, on on the other). Unplug the line cord from the computer and plug it into the single jack on one side of the splitter. Then run a new line cord from one of the two jacks on the other side back to your computer. Plug the cord to the fax machine into the other jack.

Driver for Dell A940 printer for my new Mac lap top

There is no mac driver for the Dell A940. What you could possibly do is, if you have a network, connect the printer to a windows PC, set it up as a print server and then connect to the print server from your mac.
