    The same problem. I was on the computer when it went black and this box came up. I have turned it off and on, unpluged the system, unpluged the monitor, called it names, gave it a shake and still only the floating box.

    Has anyone figured this out yet??

The monitor will not show a picture the led is flashing green

* If the issue is visible in the monitor STFC (Self-Test Feature Check), the monitor is defective. * If not, the issue is with either the video card driver or the video card.
* Turn off both your PC and monitor * Disconnect the monitor from the PC (either the white DVI or the blue VGA. They should never be connected at the same time to one PC) * Turn the monitor on * The floating Dell red/green/blue/white dialog box should appear on a black background * Check for the issue

The screen has a box that says : 1:Analog input Self Test Feature Check Red (line across) Green (line across) Blue (line across) White (line across) if you push the menu botton you get a other screen...

The issue is that the monitor in not getting the signal. This tells me that the video adapter ( or on board video) has went bad. Try another video card if all your doing is social media and surfing you can pick one up for around 20.00

Hi my monitor has bright colours on it and i cant make out what im doin its really bright and hurts my eyes

Turn off the pc but leave the monitor on. unhook the monitor from the pc. the screen SHOULD run a "self test" with a moving white green red blue box. if that box is on a bare black screen and there are no bright spots or cracks or anything weird looking, then the screen itself is ok. If however, you see odd shades of blue and pink and it looks cracked or scratched or has lines in it, then it is time to replace that screen.

E153PFc Dell monitor: cannot change resolution

Monitor STFC (Self Test Feature Check)
* Turn off the monitor
* Plug the monitor power cord directly into the wall socket to remove any surge protectors or APCs from the troubleshooting equation
* Unplug the monitor video cable from the back of the computer
* Turn on the monitor
* The floating red/green/blue/white dialog box should appear on screen against a black background. What appears?

Computer powers up, but monitor shows a self test

Your video output is bad. Either the video card, or the onboard video built into the computer. You need to swap out the card or add a card to bypass the built in video port on your computer.

Thanks and please take a moment to rate as fixya.

Dell Monitor goes blank, green light still on.

Have you tried connecting that monitor to another PC. It sounds like you may have a problem with the monitor itself (component failure, heat problem, etc)

Self-Test Feature Check (STFC) Your monitor provides a self-test feature that allows you to check whether your monitor is functioning properly. If your monitor and computer are properly connected but the monitor screen remains dark, run the monitor self-test by performing the following steps:
  1. Turn off both your computer and the monitor.
  2. Unplug the video cable from the back of the computer. To ensure proper Self-Test operation, remove Analog (blue connector) cables from the back of computer.
  3. Turn on the monitor. The floating 'Dell - self-test Feature Check' dialog box should appear on-screen (against a black background) if the monitor cannot sense a video signal and is working correctly. While in self-test mode, the power LED remains green and the self-test pattern will scroll through the screen continually.
  4. Turn off your monitor and reconnect the video cable; then turn on both your computer and the monitor.
If your monitor screen remains blank after you use the previous procedure, check your video controller and computer system; your monitor is functioning properly.
