There is no sound coming out of the rt. 750 tweeter. Left sounds fantastic.....right sounds muffled. any ideas? I disassembled and all contacts are tight, clean though suspect the array of wire coils/capacitors or whatever else is in this beast has developed a problem. All three speakers appear to be in perfect shape but I know looks can be deceiving. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Since you're that far into it why don't you either swap the tweeters or get a digital ohmmeter and check the dead one for an open circuit vs whatever the live one reads? Disconnect one lead from the tweeter first.

I have a magnavox astro-sonic console the right speakers work at full strength but the left is muffled and when the volume is turned all the wat up it produces low sound.

Check the balance or fader control and turn it to the left channel and if that doesn't provide quality volume from the left try swapping the speakers.
If there is no improvement there is an amplifier fault...

I work in a church that has 4 passive speakers across the room, 3 out of 4 of them sound super muffled and n one of them sound perfect Ive tried switching power amps, there is no processing help?

I would say from your description that the tweeters are blown.
Can you take the speaker that sounds good and swap it out with one that sounds bad. If you do that and the good one still sounds good. You have a tweeter problem. And they would need to be replaced.

A loose or intermittent cable contact on the OUTSIDE would affect ALL speaker output, not just the high frequencies, and it would probably produce speaker-threatening crackles.

That loose tweeter connection the other guys found isn't fixed. Go back and make them fix it right.

What are your present speaker connection ends if NOT bare wire?

The sound from my home stereo sounds muffled. I checked for loose wires but did not find any. I have Celestion 15 speakers - they are about fifteen years old.

Muffled sound? Like no treble? Wires wouldn't cause it. Could be bad tweeters.

More specific details re: electronics, source(s) might help.

Suddenly, my outdoor speakers sound kind of "muffled"

If these speakers are two or three way speakers, it is possible that the tweeter(s) are blown in them.
Try and remove cover to check.
If the sound is not distorting, but just flat and muddy its the tweeters.
Put the other ones on this channel, to make sure it is not the amp.

Muffled sounds from speakers suddenly on our boat

Hi airnurse

If you are using a cassette deck for a source of music, then it will have dirty heads. This can be cured by using a head cleaner cassette. Muffled sound from the loudspeakers usually points to a faulty high frequency driver(tweeter). Is the sound muffled on radio or other sources as well. If so, then you have faulty tweeter(s) to any speakers that are muffled.

Of course in saying that, you should check that someone has not just turned the treble control all the way down, or the bass control alll the way up :) Pays to check.

Tweeters & Midrange Speakers

If you have a Ohm Meter, check the resistance to the speakers. If it is very high, the speakers are burned, (or the crossover is (just capacitors, and resisters...cheap)). If it is close to 4 ohms check the wiring and connectors..to and at the speakers, most likly the receiver/amp is not blown.
