Question about LG LHD45EL Dehumidifier

Open Question

Sensor not working, dehumidifier overflowing.

My full sensor has stopped working, leading to an overflowing receptacle every time...which in turn makes the floor wet, adding to the humidity! Any ideas on how to fix it? Where is it?

SOURCE: 20% humidity reading

Hi, I just cleaned my dehumidifier and had the same problem as you. I used a spray water bottle and was not aware that the humidity sensor was being soaked. Very stupid of me!! Luckily I have two same dehumidifiers and used the other sensor to replace the one that I so stupidly ruined, and behold my machine worked again. Now I have to buy another sensor. To make sure we are talking about the same thing, my sensor is white, about 1 inch by 1/2 of an inch. It as 4 wires connected to it. To access it you remove the water tank, you will see 2 screws. Remove those, and pry the front panel loose. Be careful the top of the panel is held by two plastic hooks, they break easy. The sensor is located on the right side just above the radiator, under a produting oval lip which as foam around its rim. The wire colors are red black blue and yellow. Good luck Herman

SOURCE: Dehumidifier Error?

Your bucket full switch may be defective. If you are capable, bypass it since you are draining to another place other than the bucket.

SOURCE: Dehumidifier Error?

Same problem with Goldstar model DH404EY7 -- stop code 01 on startup, bucket full light blinks (drains to floor).

Replaced the main controller board to fix it.

For my model dehumidifer the part # is 6871A20888A, and cost $77.44 (not counting shipping) from Appliance Factory Parts. The Appliance Factory Parts web site also provides parts breakdown (exploded parts diagram) diagrams and service manuals in PDF form.

SOURCE: kenmore 580.51650000 dehumidifier: compressor

fan should turn off when compressor not running, the relay switch is stuck open for the fan, and probably needs replacing, but even if it always runs there is no harm and it only uses like 15 watts

My DEHUMIDIFIER shows check-red light

well you didnt mention model but most times this occurs on dehumidifyers it means the bucket full sensor has tripped , this does not mean that bucket is full, it just means that bucket is either not seated all the way in or maybe the sensor has moved in the bucket and no longer hits the sensor as it should , try reposisioning the bucket and full sensor , ck for looseness

Dehumidifiers bucket empty but says full water leaking on floor

if says full and leaking on floor. it is full, you say empty, why make sure that it is empty, sensor in container to check level, so if it is empty, sensor fault, but leaking on floor, would indicate sensor ok, and container full

Delonghi dehumidifier overflows

these humidifiers are total junk. The sensors are cheap and get stuck or broken so easily. for your problem tho, you can either find the sensor by taking off the cover and use your hands to break free any stuff causing it to get stuck or you can drill a hole in the water tank and insert some fish tank tubing and let the water drain out as it collects.

I have the same problem. Some kind of clog near the sensor I'd imagine. Where is the sensor for that?

Assuming the unit is level look for a blockage in the drip pan outlet causing it to overflow.

Good luck,

Power OFF button doesn't work; unit keeps running, overflows, and doesn't stop

I have the same problem! The "pcb" referred to in the previous reply is undoubtedly what Sears refers to as the "COVER ASSEMBLY, DISPLAY", part number 3551A20109B. It is possible, but highly unlikely, that the defective part is the ESCUTCHEON, p/n 3831A20079D. Sears lists the cost of the COVER ASSEMBLY, DISPLAY as $17.25 plus, undoubtedly shipping and tax. The part seems to be available only from the Sear Web Site under "PArts Direct". This dehumidifier is a piece of garbage. I previously had to replace the SENSOR ASSEMBLY, p/n 6877A30013L. This item turns off the unit when the water tank is full. This dehumidifier has my room flooded - twice - when the unit failed to turn off and overflowed.

While under waranty Sears/Kenmore attempted to repair the unit five times. They never succeeded and when the warranty ran out they would not repair the unit unless I paid for it. Thats when I started doing my own repairs!

Dehumidifier Error?

This error code indicates that the problem is most likely a shorted defrost thermistor or possibly a pinched wire going to the thermistor. You will need to replace the sensor assembly - part # 6877A30013L. The Sears website has it listed for 9.99 + shipping. The humidity sensor & defrost thermistor come together in a wiring harness that plugs onto the main circuit board. It is fairly simple to repair. Just remove the front & rear grill & the metal cabinet. Remove the thermistor from the copper tube on the cooling lines; remove the humidity sensor from the front of the evaporator; pull the wire plug off the bucket switch; & remove the small 7 pin plug from the main circuit board inside the metal control box. Reverse procedure to install new sensor assembly.

CH1 IS SHOWN AS WELL AS THE BUCKET FULL LIGHT

I have a LG model LHD65EBL that first started icing up along the top edge during humid days. After several months of this, it finally stopped working and displayed CH01 with the bucket full indicator flashing.

I took apart the dehumidifier, removed the temperature sensor from the coil and rubbed it between my fingers. I then plugged in the unit and it started right up, confirming either a sensor or other circuit problem related to that sensor. For my model unit, I ordered sensor assembly #6877A30013L from RepairClinic.com for $21.75 + shipping.

When I received the assembly, I measured the new and old sensor with an ohm meter: new sensor = 5.5KOhms, old, defective sensor = 5.34KOhms. I installed the new sensor assembly and the unit is working fine.

Just because the bucket full indicator is flashing along with an error code does not mean there is a problem with the bucket full switch.

A Question

You can test the humidistat fairly easily, using a volt-ohm meter. Just set the meter to RX1 scale and attach its leads to the humidistat's terminals. Rotate the humidistat's knob as far as it will turn in both directions. If the volt-ohm meter registers zero ohms through only part of the humidistat dial's range, the humidistat is working. If it registers zero through the entire range, it's broken and must be replaced. Dehumidifier Overflow Cutoff Switch Test- Using a volt-ohm meter, you can tell if the overflow switch works or not. Clip the leads to the terminals on the switch. Depress the bar or trip lever on the switch. If the meter's needle doesn't show continuity and no continuity as the switch is clicked back and forth, the switch is probably faulty and will need replacement.
