Problem inserting black FINEcartridge Canon Pixma MP210

Just bought this printer. All attempts to insert black FINE cartridge (PG-37) have failed; I have tried it with the machine off and also after switching it on.

There is no problem inserting the colour cartridge (CL-38) but every time I insert it first and then try to insert the black cartridge, he colour cartridge just falls down!

Go here and type "how to install ink" in the search box. Now click on the entry that says "How do I install ink cartridge(s)". You'll see the answer with animated pictures. Basically, you have to lift up on the front edge of the cartridge to lock it in place.

Re solution2/debi t: DOH :) you were right, although I did certainly switch the printer on, just had to press the green button again to LET THE CARTRIDGE CARRIER MOVE INTO THE RIGHT POSITION. It did not only look like there was nothing to put em in - there WAS nothing. Doh!!

Ha ha lol, lucky I got the will to live again ;)

Thanks!

Yes, I almost lost my will to live too!

As rebekaah mentioned above (and what all the instruction manuals neglected to point out was), you need to turn the printer on first and allow it to go through its 'routine' and line up the heads for the cartridges to fit into before you even try to insert them.
Anyone who is having problems finding somewhere to 'click them into place' will go 'doh' once they figure that part out.

Canon MP210 getting E5 message with PG-50

Sadly Canon cripple many of their printers so that they will not accept the high yield cartridges such as the 50 & 51. As a result your printer the MP210 will only accept the 37 or 38 cartridges which are only half filled, or the 40 and 41 which are fairly full, but don't contain as much as the 50 & 51. All I can suggest is that you could try to sell the 50 on eBay, and send a strongly worded email to Canon.

Replace ink

The Canon Pixma MP210 printer uses the following ink cartridges.
Black: PG-40 Color: CL-41
You can order these online such as )http://www.databazaar.com/Inkjet_Cartridge/Catalog/Pixma_MP210_1982.html) or get them at your local store.

Printer not recognizing pg-50 cartridge

I had exactly the same problem. I called the Canon helpdesk and apparently the PG-50 is not compatible with the MP210. I then bought a new PG-40 which works fine.

Bit annoying as I have wasted £35 or so on the PG-50. This is also a bit misleading from Canon as the PG-50 fits into the MP210 perfectly, and when you are looking at it on the shelf it looks like a long-life version of the PG-40.

But there doesn't seem to be any way around it that I have found. Just bite the bullet, write it off to experience and buy a new PG-40.

Ink cartage

This printer will take either the PG-30 or PG-40 (larger size) cartridges for black ink, and either the CL-31 or CL-41 (larger size) cartridges for color ink.
