Question about HP Pavilion dv9925nr Notebook

2 Answers

The HP will not boot past the HP logo. The only thing that works is the F10 and F9 screens. One gets to the BIOS the other to boot menu. I was able to get into Windows once by going through F9 and clicking Notebook Hard Drive. Once there I updated the BIOS to the latest version via WinFlash. The problem I am having is the DVD drive is not being recognized. I have tried to remove the HD, DVD, battery and power and then removed the residual. Still no luck. Any thoughts?

You are suffering from a manufacturer defect that many of us also are. Check out hp lies for all the info.
Your nvidia chip is cooking everything inside your notebook. Mine is doing the same thing. I have a dv9730us. Good luck getting HP to fix it now. They updated the BIOS to make the fan run faster and all the time to get you out of warranty. If you live in the UK or CA you have laws protecting you as the consumer but us US folks are screwed!

I would try using System Restore to try to restore it to a earlier time when it was working properly.if not you might have to do a whole Recovery, sounds like your computer registry got corrupted.

When you boot it up keep on pressing F8 and you can boot windows up in Safe Mode and try System Restore from there.

None of the keys work on hp logo screen F10, f11. f9. esc system won't boot from hard drive or cd

are you using a usb keyboard? A lot of systems require a ps/2 (purple round connector) keyboard to access the bios settings and anything on the startup screen unless you have set usb on boot in the bios settings. I would try connecting a ps/2 keyboard and see if it helps.

Hi when i satrt up my hp compaq mini 110 it wont load past the bios. it comes up with the options for F9: change boot device order, F10:BIOS setup options, F12: Network boot. if i leave it to laod past...

Check to see if any media is in you CD DRIVE, or any other drive because if BIOS is booting from the CD or other media first, it never gets to your hard drive thus never boots windows. If clear, Press F9 and enter into your BIOS setup. You will have to make sure your boot sequence/order is in order to boot first from the hard drive. If all is in order try F8 hitting it repeatedly until safe mode options appear. If this doesn't work post a reply and we'll go from there.
