The specifics depend greatly on the version of windows you are running.
In general, there should be an icon on the lower right hand corner of the screen, right by the clock. It should look like a computer with three curved lines next to it. By clicking this (or right clicking in Windows vista) a menu or a screen will come up, listing the available wireless networks.
Upon clicking on a network, you may be asked for the 'key'. This would be a password set up for connecting to the network when the router was initially set up. Enter this key, and you should, after a few seconds, be connected to the internet.

Cant get wireless connection to work

are you having a problem connecting on public network or on your own wireless network?
if you are having problem connecting to your wireless connection and if it's a first time setup, basically you will be needing an ethernet cable to set the wireless connection. you need to log into the router's GUI to set it up. just choose WEP for the security and you may use any 10 numbers. what is your router and the model? so i can give you a step by step on configuring it.
please let me know more info about your setup. thanks

WIRELESS CONNECTION PROBLEM

Have you configured your wireless adapter with same WPA key that you had set on the wireless router?
Do you detect other Wireless routers in your area and are they using the same wireless channel as your router?
If so change the wireless channel on your wireless to an unused wireless channel to avoid interference with other wireless routers.
