Hi,

The USB jacks should just be soldered to the motheboard. How comfortable are you with using a soldering iron on a multi-layer printed circuit board that can easily be damaged if a bit too much heat or a bit too much force is applied while removing the old sockets or putting in the new ones. There is also the matter of first finding identical replacement USB jacks. You could also pay a PC repair shop to do the repair for you.

If you have an open memory card slot on the laptop, a USB adapter card like one of these may work out for you:

Just be sure you properly identify the memory/expansion slot type on the laptop and get a matching USB adapter card.

Pleaes post your feedback and Vote if the problem resolved as per your satisfaction.

If the charging port for my zeiko 10 inch is broken, what other way can I charge

Some tablets have a charging port and a usb port. If your tablet is so equipped it should charge while connected to another computer by usb or to a usb charger.

If your tablet is only equipped with a usb port and that is broken, it will need a repair before the battery can be charged.

I seem to have a touchy USB connection, when I first got the Belkin and plugged my printer(s) into it, nothing happened, no connection light etc, after about 3 days I got it to light up, and it was fine...

The issue might be the port is broken, please try using another port to see if the issue persists. If it doesn't then the port it was previously connected to is broken and probably have to be plugged in at a certain elevated angle to work

My USB port on the hard drive seems to have broken off inside. What can I do? There is another DC port next to it, is there any way of connecting the hard drive to my laptop via this?

Disassemble the enclosure, and remove the disk-drive.
Purchase a new "empty" enclosure, for about $30, and "transplant" your disk-drive into the new enclosure. All your files will be accessible.

My wired mouse on my desk top computer (windows XP) won't move. How do I fix this? I opens the mouse, cleaned it, made sure mouse. keyboard etc. was correctly plugged in, nothing has worked. Please help

It would seem that your mouse is broken. They easiest way to tell if it is your mouse that is broken is to plug that mouse into another computer. If you have another computer you should try plugging your mouse into that one to see if that works. If you don't have another computer ask a friend or family member who does to help you out. It seems most likely that you have a ball mouse using a PS/2 port, the plug pictured in green. Fortunately mice are relatively inexpensive. Even laser mice, which are more accurate, easier to use, and don't jam up with lint and dust build up. If the issue is not your mouse, it may be the port to which your mouse is plugged in. If you are using a PS/2 mouse and your port is no longer working you can get a new mouse that uses a USB port. If your current mouse is using a USB port try changing the port it is plugged into. An example of what a USB port looks like is pictured below. It is the picture of the two ports with the USB logo next to it, a dot with lines going to another dot, a triangle, and a square.mthealey716_1.jpgmthealey716_2.jpg

I have 3 USB ports on my Dell Inspiron B130, and they are all broken. It seems they are broken somewhere inside the computer - stuff plugs in, but doesn't register on the computer. How much would it cost...

3 ports all defective sounds like they may have been disabled . Have you checked your bios?Dell is going to tell you you need a very expensive mo0therboard replacement and will try to sell you another computer. You are better off checking your drivers. Go into the control panel /system/hardware/device manager and see what you have going onwith your USB controllers.
Reinstall the drivers or update them, I can't see three ports suddenly becoming defective physically.

F20 power port connection broken in unit.

Hi,
I have recently acquired a Navman F20 Satnav with a broken USB port (It was rattling around inside the unit.)

I took apart the case and re-fitted the USB port with no problems at all. Just with a steady hand and a fine tipped soldering iron. I also superglued the port in place to add extra strength.

Put it all back together, and it now charges and connects to the PC exactly as it should.

So, before you throw away a sat nav with this problem, contact me and I can fix it for you, or, alternatively I will offer to buy the broken unit from you.

My Email address is darren.lee27@ntlworld.com.

Thanks

Broken Prong inside connector for mouse

If the ps2 port on the main board is broken you will need to replace the board. If this is the case and your computer has usb ports on it just go out and buy a usb mouse.

If the part that is broken is from the mouse by using tweezers try to gently remove the broken part from the board. if unsuccessful use the usb port with a usb mouse.
