Question about ASUS P4C800 Deluxe Motherboard

1 Answer

No Sound Took ASUS P4C800 board from a working system with sound working fine. Installed into a new case and a fresh install of Win XP SP2. Installed SoundMax drivers that came on the CD for the mother board. In Device Manager, everything looks fine and is enabled. Speakers have been tested on another machine and work. Onboard soundcard can find mic and this works perfectly. Problem is that no matter how many installs or what version of SoundMax drivers are installed no sound plays through either speakers or a headphone. Have exactly the same problem with an ASUS A7N8X-X running onboard sound. Sound was perfect on a previous build, but now no sound at all even after fresh install of WIN XP SP2, though right drivers installed and everything looks fine. Even tried a PCI sound card, and this too installs perfectly but no sound will play at all. Please help, is driving me nuts.

ASUS P5GD2 Deluxe motherboard with no sound

This is a known isue and ASUS is working on a sound driver for the chipset. Keep checking their site for driver updates. The board should all install with Windows 7 except for the sound drivers. Some people say they can install the vista driver and run it in vist or xp compatibility mode. The other thing you can do is pick up a cheap $20 Win 7 compliant sound card till the chipset driver issue is resolved.

download themonto a location; if the driver is in a zip format, unzip it,if itzin.exe form, just run it; if done manually it'll ask for the correctdriver and location; relocate the path and a.inf file (wat it'll askfor)....goto the device manager n verify, if installed properly..!!
also download n install "k-lite mega codec pack"....

if notfixed try using a standby pci snd card (this step will b applicable fordesktop users, in such case it'll b a confirmed case of ur system boardis likely to b defective)..

but always better to consult ur system admin/vendor....

I installed windows xp sp2 on an asus motherboard with realtek sound card, but erased the sound card drivers thereon. Now can i get the sound card drivers to reinstall

Go here: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us On the left side, enter the model number of the motherboard, select All categories and click search. It will probably ask you for the operating system in a pop-up box and give you a list of all of the drivers for that board.

About windows setup

Hi niket_shah, sorry but you're board Asus M2N-MX, does support Win XP SP2.
Chances are that while installing windows updates one or more updates failed. People like myself know from repairing PC's which updates need to be installed first. If you're Win XP SP2 did not or would not install than either the Win CD is not a valid Microsoft Win XP SP2 CD or (You have a copy) & there is something wrong with the CD. After a fresh (New install) of Win XP with SP2 there is more than 90+ updates for SP2 which must be downloaded through windows update program. Or you're windows will not function properly.
Just to show you what versions of windows the M2N-MX board does support. Click the link listed below. Once the link loads click the + sign next to Audio. Scroll down the page an notice the different Window version listed for you're board.
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?modelname=M2N-MX&SLanguage=en-us
To recap this issue. The problem is either the WinCD or possibly you're hard drive. Make sure you allow windows to perform a full format before installing window. (Not a quick format).
