It's not a matter of making the pendrive a bootable device as much as the PC itself being able to boot from a usb device.

Is "USB device" listed in the boot options in the BIOS?

Kingston usb pen drive

Hi,
Most probably this may be a loose connection problem... and ur drive has a autorun program...

Situation may be like this...1. ur drive is recognised..2. Autorun starts...3. Drive disengages :))...4. OS asks u -->WHERE IS MY DRIVE???<--

Try using some other USB ports...and in some other PCs also...Try to have a thorough scan with good antivirus (Who knows.. may be some virus is running as autorun!)

Try connecting the device in all possible insertion levels

Bye

Have a nice day.

I hope ... this solves ur problem. :)

it will not work with xp or any other version of windows except vista, and it has to be a readyboot compatible flash drive to work.
