what does the water valve do? and where is it located?
would it cause water to empty out right away also?
it doesn't seem to fill up enough...

- you are on the money...i had already pulled the bottom panel off and found the drain solenoid to be all rusted and sticky...the drain valve stem seal was also leaking...i replaced everything for approx $60 and it is working perfectly again...thanks again.
-   water leaking from drain valve, tightened clamps at valve, tightened 4 screws that secure the valve. believe the stem seal could be leaking, can not find a supplier for the 3 seal on the stem. any help?-   bubbasteve
The water valve, or water inlet valve is what lets water in the dishwasher. If it is filling and emptying at the same time, that is a different situation, and is most likely the drain solenoid. Take the bottom panel off the dishwasher and take a peek underneath. The solenoid may be simply stuck, but if it's an old dishwasher, it's most likely corroded or burned up and is stuck in the drain position. If this is the case, it should be replaced.

The soap dispenser doesn't alway open during operation, and when it does happen to open, leaves globs of soap behind in the holder. (we use liquid detergent)
