You may not have a SATA system - Western Digital has the other type of hard disk drive available.

Password is for the computer, not the hard drive. Get a Linux LiveCD and reformat the drive.

You shouldn't have any problems. The computer uses SATA drives and the drive is SATA and is also a 2.5" laptop HDD. Make sure that you have a way to install an OS , etc

I want to make my WD1600AAJS hard drive a master hard drive, but the port is diffrent than my other hard drives. what do i do?

A SATA drive cannot be set to master or slave like a PATA drive can. SATA only allows one device per port. If the problem is that you don't have any SATA ports in your computer, you can get a SATA host adapter card for your system, update your motherboard to a motherboard with SATA ports, or get a PATA hard drive.

WD1600bevs drive not seen by windows. Disk cloning software saw drive but thought it was a 2 TB drive.

Are you trying to install a new hard drive for new storage space or are you trying to move a hard drive with files on it that you intend to keep?

New drive with no files:
Right click my computer and select manage, choose "disk management" in the left pane, see if there is a drive listed with "unallocated space", if so, partition the drive, format it, and windows will assign it a drive letter.

Drive with files to keep:
Upon starting your computer, enter the BIOS or "setup" (usually by pressing f2, tab, escape, or some other key...but it should tell you what key to press), make sure the drive is detected in the system bios (make sure the SATA port that the drive is plugged into is turned ON) . Make sure the drive is plugged into power as well as data. Try a known good SATA cable.

My Hard drive not founding while setup starting

You need to obtain the SATA drivers for the Hard drive for your motherboard and save them to a bootable media such as a floppy drive or a USB stick if the mobo supports this.
When you install windows (must be XP you are using as Vista and 7 normally have the sata drivers installed), at the prompt press F6 to install 3rd part drivers and it will look for the drivers, after that you should have no problems.

If this does not work, you may have issues with the hard drive, I would check to see if it is shown in the Bios, if not, check it is properly connected, if that does not wrok, the drive could be faulty

Says no hard drive devices found

Is it a "new" drive, or a drive that you have been using for a long time, i.e., it could have failed.

Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power-cord.
Check that the "data" cable between the SATA drive and the motherboard is tightly connected at both ends.
Check that the "power" cable into the SATA drive is tightly connected.
Restart your computer, and enter BIOS SETUP.
Be sure that the BIOS-search for SATA devices is "enabled".

Note that Western Digital has a "Customer Loyalty" program; if you buy a new W.D. drive through their web-site, you qualify for a discount on the purchase.

I need the drivers a western digital sata 160 g hard drive model wd1600aabb for the xp platform please!!! can anyone help?

There are no such drivers....sata hard drives use windows drivers...if the computer is asking for drivers for a hard drive, then it is seeking drivers within windows...which means there could be corruption in those windows drivers that the WD HDD needs. Try going to windows update, let it load and check for updates and instead of hitting express, hit custom and look in the left hand pane for hardware updates and see if the drivers for a hard drive would be there. WD only offers Firmware updates and software for its HDD's.
