The remote control of your cable/sat remote may be operating on same frequency as the tv's sleep timer. Try using the tv's original remote to power on/off once to readjust it.

Enter the service menu under self check and you will most probably see that the fault is cause by the iris (will be in red). The iris needs to be oiled so that it can open and close again properly (you can find a youtube video showing you how to do this).

Enter Service menu like this:

From the projector being on, press the power button to turn it off then press:

Cursor left
Cursor up
Cursor down

Keeps turning off

So, Shutting down to protect itself. The error light says it needs service, Cycling power makes it work for a few more minutes, then the Panasonic safety circuit shuts it down. Projector shuts down when bulb life gets to the danger zone, and also when its heat sensor says there is a problem.
So you have a bulb life issue or you have a dirty projector / fan cooling issue??

I say clean it up with some compressed air when it is cool, then check the # of hours the bulb has on it (in the menu).

Lastly brace yourself, the bulb is gonna hurt you :-$
