Bad memory, replace memory modules

Might be bad memory, bad memory causes beep

Click Start/My Computer then Right Click on the C drive and select Properties. If it shows zero bytes or that the drive is full and has no free space then that's why it is freezing and locking up. The system has no room to do anything.

That could be a cpu problem or a man board error. You should be seeing some kind of error code either flashing leds or a beep. If it shows no code then if the memory is good, it can be the ram connector or the controller. Basically to generate any code the ram has to be good and the board has to see at least the first 64k of it. It will generate the code even with a bad cpu as long as it can use that first small bit of ram.

Swap the ram locations and you should try just one single module at a time. Sometimes heat cycles or vibrations will work the ram loose. So just taking them out and carefully reseating them can fix this problem.

The two normal causes for this on a laptop are a bad cpu that usually has overheated and the first suspect is always ram.
Either of those can be replaced fairly cheap. Past that you are looking at a main board replacement.

From your description the cpu sounds like the probable cause.

check for any faulty RAM module

remove the keyboard the mobo battery is there you need to unsolder one end of it, lift the leg, and turn it on that way for it to clear.. you will have to resolder once done.. have the skills or find someone that does... and you're set..
