The exact list of parts for a dishwasher hook-up would depend on the existing plumbing and electrical . There are three hook-ups needed; a hot water feed, typically from under the sink. A Tee is installed on the hot water line with a valve, and the hot water line to the dishwasher is connected to the valve. A drain line from the dishwasher is installed under the sink. It connects to the sink drain. The Electrical connection can be made using the appropriate electrical cord.
There are specific guidelines and considerations on how to connect the drain line under the sink, and what is required for the electrical hook-up. If you do a search on "how to install a dishwasher" you will be able to find extensive information.
The hoses may not be connected properly or are cracked. This is causing leakage inside dishwasher and the flood switch to operate. The dishwasher starts the pump to empty the dishwasher and avoid damage of water flooding the electric parts.
You will need to find the source of the leakage and fix it. Such leaks are very common with second hand dishwashers. Would be better to go back to the seller and ask questions.
A small diameter thick wall line will hook up to the hot under the sink, and the larger flexable tube (for refuse) will hook up to the drain under the sink. The electrical cord will plug in usually to an outlet under the sink as well. Good luck, best regards.
Hi, I would take matters into my own hands because you are probably qualified to at least do an examination of the machine. The schematic, should be in a pouch inside or underneath the machine. Remove the kick panel pieces and look inside for (usually) a black envelope with white printed. It will be attached where it would be difficult to wet. The second location possibility would be between inside the door behind the front panel. Sometimes it is printed on a label affixed to an easy to get to surface inside the door. The problem that has stumped your technician is that he is fixing an intermittent problem. In other words he comes to your house and tries to locate what isn't there. This is the worst nightmare of an appliance tech. In looking at a photo of your dishwasher it may be difficult to get under it. So your have your work cut out for you. Since you are an electrician I would do the following. I would look for something loose. I would pull on the wiring harness gently and in as many places as possible. If you can pull the machine out a few inches, it would be helpful. You should look for a mechanical type of electrical failure. Some intermittent weakness in the wiring circuit that supplies the machine. Do as much as you can with the power off. Then proceed with the power on. Proceed with caution use electrical safety procedures. WARNING: THIS ADVICE IS INTENDED FOR THE RECIPIENT ONLY BECAUSE HE IS A MASTER ELECTRICIAN. IT IS NOT INTENDED FOR THE DO IT YOURSELF PERSON. IT IS DANGEROUS TO DO THIS AND YOU CAN BE KILLED OR INJURED BY ELECTRIC SHOCK. Since you have fully tested the supply voltage at it's source, you want to follow the circuit after the junction box in the machine. Hope this helps, Good Luck Mark
The electric connection for most dish washers is a small metal cube in the lower right of the bottom of the machine , near the front. Remove the kick plate to get access under the machine. A screw holds the cover on the power connection cube.. There is a wire there for the power connection. Connect color for color. You should use a connector on your supply cord to protect the connection when the washer is slid in or out.
Here is a little video to show exactly what to do. If you have an outlet to plug your dishwasher into just add a power cord to the connecting wires. Otherwise do as it shows in the video and hook the dishwasher up to a power cable coming from the electrical panel.
A diswasher is normally plugged into a non-switched outlet under the sink. Make certain the power cord hasn't been knocked out ot the outlet.
Most homes today come pre-wired for a garbage disposal, as well. Normally there will be one duplex jack under the sink, one jack "always on", the other controlled by a wall switch above the counter. If you don't have a garbage disposal, make certain the dishwasher is plugged into the "always on" jack.
