Open Question

GE Induction Cooktop won't turn on. The button you touch twice to unlock it won't unlock the cooktop. Is there a reset or solution? We have turned off the power and it resests but then automatically goes to lock mode and we can't unlock it by touch. Help?

Newly installed. When turn on circuit breaker, lights on cooktop flash then go out, so it is getting power, but then no buttons work

Same sort of problem. Elements all work, but control lock and timer do not... have been told it may need a new circuit board. Not very happy since we just purchased and installed the cooktop this week.

From the manual:

To turn the Cooktop Lockout Feature OFF:
1. Press and hold (_ until "CLO" appears (Figure 3). Continue holding
until a second beep sounds (after 3 seconds). I_1will disappear from
the display indicating the cooktop may be used normally (Figure 4).
Note: Starting a Self-Clean cycle will automatically turn ON the Cooktop
Lockout feature. The cooktop will remain locked until the Self-Clean cycle
has completed and the oven door has unlocked. If a power failure occurs
after the Cooktop Lockout has been activated, you must turn OFF the
Cooktop Lockout feature before being able to use the cooktop features
again.

Feature not available

I had the same problem with a new kitchenaid range which they have agreed to replace after 1 month. Oven shut off a couple times while baking and feature not available displayed when trying to turn on oven again. I tried starting clean cycle and waiting a couple minutes for element to heat then cancelled clean cycle. Oven worked fine after this but this shouldnt be a solution, obviously something not wired right.

Electrolux induction cooktop -power is on- comes up woth E8 message -elements won't go

Hi
You will most likely find this is an electrical installation wiring problem. The cooktop is designed to accept either single phase or 2-phase supply
If single phase the two feed wires must be linked.
The two feed wires are brown and black
The neutral is blue and earth is green

Most likely the electrician has got this wrong and assumed black is neutral
good luck

This may be a silly question but, did you just try turning off the circuit breaker for a couple minutes to see if it resets itself when you flip it back on?

GE Profile JB 968 Hot Cooktop Indicator Light Always On

Temporary solution to turn off the indicator lamp - put a wet rag with an ice pack on top on the middle section of the cooktop.
The thermal sensor will trip off the lamp.
