How can i check which ink are out

Your printer should have come with a disk. This disk would have installed the necessary program that runs printing jobs, as well as keeps track of the ink level. Locate this program on your computer (may be under All Programs, Accessories under the Start Menu).
If not, Go into the Control Panel: (see below)
carsandcomps_3.jpg

Above, you see "Hardware and Sound"; and below that shows "View Devices and Printers. Click on this. It will then bring you into the below dialogue box, of which shows any and all printers currently installed and which are being used. (see below)

carsandcomps_4.jpg

Once you have located your printer here - (name etc). Go into your Start Menu: In the Search Box at the bottom type "programs"; look for the words "show which programs are installed on your computer", should be the fourth in the list. Below is what the list will look like. Find your printer here to ensure it's installed.

carsandcomps_5.jpg

Once you have determined it's installed, you need to locate the printer program in your file system. Once you retrieve this, click it to open it. The program should allow you to view the ink levels. With most printers, when ink is low it will automatically open a dialogue box showing the ink levels for each cartridge. If you're printer is not equipped with this feature, then the only way to know if any need changed is when printing a document, and any color is not present.
I apologize for such a long response, as I wanted you to know how to access these files. If you are printing, and all colors appear to be present, without fading, or "blotchy" spots, then your cartridges are still good. You should be able to do a print test (calibration or alignment test) to determine this as well.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.

My hp deskjet 6940 inkjet printer doesn't show me level of ink in cartridge

Print a diagnostic page If the steps above have not helped, print and evaluate a diagnostic page to see if the cartridges or the printer is causing the problem.
  1. Make sure the printer is on and loaded with unused, plain, white paper.
  2. Press and hold the Power button and then press the Cancel button. Release both buttons. The diagnostic page prints. Figure 1: Power and Cancel buttonsc00584735.gif 1 - Cancel button 2 - Power button
Step 4: Note which cartridges printed which areas of the diagnostic page You must identify which cartridge printed which part of the diagnostic page, so that if you find defects on the page, you will know which cartridge is the problem. However, you can install different combinations of print cartridges in your printer, and different cartridge combinations print different diagnostic page patterns. Your diagnostic page may not look exactly like the picture below, but the right and left cartridges will print in the same areas of the page no matter which cartridges are installed. Figure 2: Diagnostic page layout (the patterns in each area may look slightly different on your page)c00584715.gif 1 - Printed by the right cartridge 2 - Printed by the left cartridge NOTE: If you are printing in reserve mode (one cartridge is missing), the missing cartridge's area of the diagnostic page will be blank. Step 5: Check ink levels NOTE: If you have installed a refilled or remanufactured ink cartridge, or a cartridge that has been used in another product, the ink level indicator is inaccurate or unavailable. Look in the middle of the diagnostic page. The bars with "E" (for "empty") and "F" (for "full") at each end show the ink levels in the cartridges. As ink is used, the solid color changes to a faded color. When i gave print from doucment machine takes paper and give it as it as blank, solve my problem,

Solution one: Check the ink levels To allow for full use of the cartridges, some printers continue to print even after the cartridges are completely out of ink. Follow these steps to check the ink levels in the Toolbox . The Toolbox is part of the standard printer software. Depending on the version of Toolbox on your computer, the appearance of the Toolbox features might vary. NOTE: Ink level warnings and indicators provide estimates for planning purposes only. When an indicator shows low ink levels, consider having a replacement cartridge available to avoid possible printing delays. Print quality deteriorates as cartridges run out of ink.
  1. Click Start .
  2. Click Printers and Faxes .
  3. Right-click the icon for your printer (c01532298.gif ), and then click Printing Preferences .
  4. Click the Features tab.
  5. Click the Printer Services button. The Toolbox window opens.
  6. Click the Estimated Ink Levels tab. A window opens that indicates the estimated ink level of each cartridge. NOTE: Depending on the printer, the estimated ink level indicators can vary in appearance. Examples of estimated ink level indicators c01867289.gif c01867290.gif
  7. If the ink level indicators show that a cartridge is low or empty, replace the cartridge.
  8. Try printing again.
  • If these steps resolved the issue , you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
  • If the issue persists , continue to the next solution.
Solution two: Restart the printer Restarting the printer might clear the issues and allow the printer to function correctly again.
  1. Press the Power button (c01602202.gif ) to turn off the printer. NOTE: Pressing the Power button might not turn off the printer. This might happen if the printer is in an error state. Continue with these steps regardless.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer. Figure 1: Disconnect the power cordc01869581.gif
  3. Disconnect the USB cable from the back of the printer. Figure 2: Disconnect the USB cablec01850063.gif
  4. Wait 30 seconds.
  5. Reconnect the USB cable to the printer. Figure 3: Reconnect the USB cablec01868577.gif
  6. Reconnect the power cord to the printer. Figure 4: Reconnect the power cordc01869582.gif
  7. Press the Power button (c01602202.gif ) to turn on the printer.
  8. Try printing again.
  • If these steps resolved the issue , you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
  • If the issue persists

  • Click Start and click Control Panel .
  • Double-click the Printer and Faxes folder.
  • Right-click the icon for the product and click Preferences .
  • Click the Services tab, and then click Service this Device .

How to reset the ink level of my hp officejet 6500

Checking ink levelsUse one of the following methods to check the ink levels. Method one: Check the ink levels from the HP All-in-One The ink level is displayed on the main screen of the control panel display. Locate the two icons that represent the print cartridges. The icon on the left is for the color cartridge and the icon on the right is for the black cartridge.
    • The exclamation mark (! ) symbol indicates a low ink level.
    • The question mark (? ) symbol indicates the product cannot determine the status of the print cartridge. This might be because the cartridge is refilled.

I can't print from my Dell Latitude D600 notebook to my Epson Stylus C60 printer -- a red light in the middle (ink?) button is on. How do I fix it?

If ok you have the correct driver showing a more or less ink level.
Problem is that one of the colours out, you need to refill (dangerous on Epsons, wrong refill ruins whole printer) or buy new cartridge. I prefer HP but do own that Epson also. First to come ourt then with high resolution

Epson C60 Stylus Status Monitor Does Not Work On Windows Vista

-As the driver is part of Windows Vista, there is no Status Monitor available for your printer. Some printers may have an INK LEVELS options included as part of the resident driver. Otherwise, the printer does have its own indicators. The RED error light will flash when the printer is low on ink and go solid when it is out.

-If the ink levels do not appear, click GET INK LEVELS from the MAIN tab of the printer driver. Ensure the printer is directly connected to the computer as the Ink Levels does rely on full bidirectional communication.

    It will not print.

Hi Greenhorn, Your info is slightly conflicting - I think. As I remember the C60 has just 2 LED's: 1 - Green for Power 2 - Red for Error The third button - Cartridge exchange - has no LED Now it is a while since I looked at a C60 and my brain leaks like a sieve, but that's the way I remember it and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. The error codes I remember are: Printer status - Indicators - Priority Power - Error Power ON condition On - Ink sequence Blink - Ink Cartridge change mode Blink - Data processing Blink - Paper Out *1 - On Paper jam condition *1 - On Ink end (Black) *1 - On -> Blink Ink level low (Black) - Blink-> Blink Ink end (Color) *1 - On -> Blink2 Ink level low (Color) - Blink-> Blink2 Ink end (Black and Color) - On -> On No Ink Cartridge (Black or Color) *1 - On Maintenance request (Ink Overflow Countererror) *1 Alt Blink Alt Blink Fatal error *1 Off On Special setting Blink2 Blink2
