My 4 slice Dualit toaster stopped working! Repair?

I purchased this expensive toaster about 5 years ago from Williams-Sonoma. Overnight it stopped working. They stopped carrying Dualit. Is it worth repairing (did I mention it was expensive!)? If so, by whom? Thanks, Lisa

It may need a new timer best price I have found, with instructions http://www.mcssl.com/store/electra-craft/catalog/product/522920765afa4d168f30d465bed95c1a
This is not difficult to replace, of course be sure to UNPLUG IT BEFORE DOING ANYTHING ELSE!!

I had an issue where it wouldn't stay down, or heat even if I held it down. No power at all.

Firstly unplug it.

To take it apart, turn it upside down. You have to get the 4 security bolts undone which are underneath (Mine look like they have six holes around them).
Also, you need to unscrew the bobble by hand which you use to push the toast down. You can then pull the cover off, from the back first. The timer dial is connected to the cover, but I didn't disconnect this.

Note: You don't need to undo the bolts inside the toaster. (They only hold the metal base to the plastic base), the 4 torx screws holding the side panel on, or the 4 twisted pieces of metal which hold the toaster internals to the base.

Inside, there are 4 prongs which are pushed together when you push the toast down. On further inspection, I found the main blue power cable had become corroded, and had melted and become disconnected. So simply unscrewed the 2 screws hold this section on,(simply for easier access) and resoldered the blue cable back onto the correct prong.

And now it works again!

Timer keeps sticking - is there anything i can do to repair or replace?

Your best bet is to buy a new timer on ebay there is only one parts guy for dualit in the US and
his parts are more expensive then buying and shipping from England. Its a common problem
with dualit and the replacement timers seem to be a little better made. Time will tell

It is probably not under warranty. I would advise getting a new one. By the time you send it off and pay the repair and get it back, you will have a repaired toaster will a question mark on when it will go down again. Get a new one same brand.
