Can't access my YAHOO email, even though connected to INTERNET !!!

Many times, you can recover a hacked or compromised Yahoo! account after using on-site password-recovery tools.
The process can take a few minutes to complete, but once you are finished you'll be back in your account.
If the password-recovery method does not work, then you can always contact the security group at Yahoo! Inc. via email.
Of course, you'll need access to a secondary email address to message the company's support team.

Type "login.yahoo.com" into the browser's URL address field.
You are greeted by the Yahoo! account sign in page.
Click the "I can't access my account" link in the box on the right side.
Select the "My account may have been compromised" option from the choice of sign in problems.
Click the "Next" button.
Type your Yahoo! ID and security code on the next page.
Click "Next" to continue.
Select an alternative email address to send a reset link to.
This only works if you previously added a secondary email address.
If not or the alternative email address has been tampered with, then select the "I can't access any of the above" option.
Click "Next."
Answer the security questions on the next few pages.
You will usually have to answer at least two security questions.
Enter a new password and repeat the password when prompted.
Click the "Next" button to finalize the password-reset process.

Yahoo Messenger Has Been Locked

As its name implies, Yahoo Messenger allows you to exchange instant messages with other Yahoo users.
But the software's capabilities extend far beyond one-on-one text conversations.
You can use Yahoo Messenger to participate in chat rooms, share photos, make telephone calls, video chat, play games and more.
When you experience problems accessing your Yahoo Messenger account, you may receive a message that it has been locked. Locked Accounts Yahoo places locks on Messenger accounts as a security precaution.
The locks take effect when there are multiple, failed attempts to access a user's Yahoo account.
Even if you unsuccessfully tried to to sign in to a different Yahoo product, you may find your Messenger account locked.
Unlocking Accounts
To unlock your account, go to Yahoo's sign-in page and enter your user ID and password.
When you reach your My Yahoo page, click on one of the Quicklinks you see on the left side of the page.
Leave your My Yahoo page open.
Sign into Yahoo Messenger for the Web, then try to sign into Yahoo Messenger.
If you are unsuccessful, contact customer care.
Current Versions
"Account locked" messages aren't the only sign-in problems you may experience with Yahoo Messenger.
Some users experience sign-in issues when using older versions of the software.
Yahoo engineers recommend upgrading to the newest version of Messenger.
To determine what version you have, look for the "About Yahoo Messenger" link under the Help menu.
Visit the Yahoo Messenger website to determine if this is the current version.

Other Sign-in Issues
When you have trouble signing in to Messenger, verify that your Internet connection is working. You can do this by navigating to a webpage.
If you are able to sign into Yahoo Mail but not Messenger, there may be a problem with your connection settings.
The Yahoo Help website offers troubleshooting steps for these settings.

Delete my yahoo account

https://edit.yahoo.com/config/delete_user If you want to close your Yahoo! account, you can follow the steps on the Account Termination page.
You will be asked to sign in or to verify the password for the account you want to delete. Note: Before deleting your account, please read the instructions on the Account Termination page carefully, as important information about your account is included. You can then confirm the deletion of your account.
Important: Please complete the deletion process only if you are certain you want to remove your entire Yahoo! account and any features you have personalized within the account. After you delete your Yahoo! account, you can't reactivate it, although you can always sign up for a new account. When you close your account, you lose access to your Yahoo! ID, Yahoo! Mail, and profile names. We will delete your account data and settings across the Yahoo! network. This means you will lose all of your content in:
Yahoo! Mail
Yahoo! Address Book
Monster+HotJobs
My Yahoo!
Yahoo! Groups
Finance Portfolio
Any other area of Yahoo! that can only be accessed with your Yahoo! ID and password. Deleting your Yahoo! account does not alter or delete your Yahoo! People Search listing. You must edit or delete this separately.
If you are subscribed to any premium services, we recommend that you cancel them before you delete your account. There is no guarantee that deleting your Yahoo! account will immediately cancel the billing for any premium services you are subscribed to. To cancel your current subscriptions, visit Yahoo! Billing Information for your account, click My Services, and then click the Cancel link for each subscription.
Using an older version of Internet Explorer or Firefox subjects your PC to more vulnerabilities, viruses and spyware. To ensure you're protected, we recommend downloading a Yahoo! optimized version of Internet Explorer 8 or Firefox today.

I can't get Outlook set up for my new ymail account. I keep getting asked for my user name and password. Then I get an error message: Task 'plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com - Sending' reported error (0X800CCC92)...

my understanding is that you need to have yave yahoo plus to get this to work, yahoo plus is the paid version for you to have pop access which means be able to use an email client (like outlook) to retrieve yahoo mail there.
now if you have not paid for yahoo plus you can do the following:
1. switch your yahoo account to be localized to asia, which should also (for now) allow you to use pop access on a free yahoo account, you need to look around into the account options (Its under Account Info, Account Settings,Set Language Site and Time Zone or something like that)
2. once 1 has been completed go into yahoo and add your yahoo account, * for logon info use only your yahoo user name (not the @yahoo.com) * enter your correct password *for incoming email server: pop.mail.yahoo.com *for outgoing email server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
3. go into more settings>advance * incoming server port should be 110 *outgoing server port should be 587
good luck

I forgot my username password for a toshiba laptop running vista help please

Protocol questions - for more vivid mental image.
The logon screen, is it a 'classic logon' screen? IE do you get the option to enter a username and password or do you click an icon and then are prompted for a password?

Scenario 1
If not, you can use the logon 'panic button' = use Ctrl+Alt+Del trick {Ctrl+Alt+Del pressed twice} to make sure you get two fields to fill so that you log on as the Administrator. IE username = Administrator
password = {leave blank} Press enter and if you gain access, proceed to the Control panel or run | compmgmt.msc | local users and groups. From users, rightclick your account and then set password. Set the password, remember it, logoff and then logon with your credentials.

Scenario 2
Please take note this tip (if it works) is intended to regain a forgotten Vista Administrator password. It is not intended to illegally hack into a Vista system that’s not owned by you.

  1. Reboot the Windows Vista and boot up with Windows Vista installation DVD.
    vista-install-01.jpg
  2. While the Windows Vista installation interface pops up, click the Repair You Computer link at the bottom-left corner.
  3. Next, the System Recovery Options dialog box appears. There are few options but we want the Command Prompt option. Click on this option now.
  4. In the Vista Command Prompt, type mmc.exe and press the ENTER key to bring up the Microsoft Management Console.
  5. Click on the File menu, select Add / Remove Snap-in option, locate and select the Local Users and Groups on the left panel, and click Add button to add it to the right panel.
  6. Now, the Choose Target Machine dialog box pop up. Ignore this by clicking the Finish button
  7. Click OK button and return to the MMC window (the first window that showed when you entered mmc.exe). In the left panel, double-click Local Users and Group that was added in step 5. Click on User folder, locate and right-click the target Vista logon account whose password you need to set.
Guess you should know what to do now. Select the Set Password from the right-click menu to set a new password / reset old password.

Scenario 3
There is software out there than can do all the leg work for you like - NT & registry editor. Careful though. Can render your system useless if you don't know how to use them.

My yahoo ID can't sending mail

  1. Click Options in the upper-right corner of the page and select Mail Options.
  2. Under “Management”, click Mail Addresses.
  3. Click Add.
  4. In the box, enter an account name for your own reference (for example, Work or School) …and click Continue.
  5. There would be two boxes: In the first one, put the name you’d like others to see when they get email from this address. In the second one, type the Email address you’d like send from – from within Yahoo! Mail! (You’ll be asked to verify this other address in an email we will send to you there.) Click Continue.
  6. Do you want to be able to check email in this account from your Yahoo! account as well? (You can check your mail in clients like Outlook and Eudora, but currently you won’t be able to check mail in other webmail accounts with providers like Hotmail, Gmail or Yahoo. You can send from these other addresses from within Yahoo! Mail.)
    1. If yes, (you want to check mail in your Outlook or Eudora or similar client), skip to step 9.
    2. If no, you don't want to check mail in this account, you just want to be able to SEND from it from inside your Yahoo! account. Click Skip this Step at the bottom of the Add Account page and continue to step 7.
  7. On the page that opens, check to make sure you’ve entered the correct email address. If you need to make any changes, click Edit Address. If it looks fine, click Send Verification to generate the email we send to you to make sure this is an actual account you use.
  8. The “Verify Account” page opens. Here’s the easiest way to complete your setup and start sending mail from the new address:
    1. Leave this "Verify Account" page open.
    2. In a different browser window or application, sign into your other Mail account.
    3. Look for an email from Yahoo! Member Services, and open it.
    4. Copy the “confirmation code” in the last line of the email by either double-clicking it or clicking and dragging over it, then either clicking Copy from the Edit menu or pressing Ctrl + “c”. (Mac users press Command + “c”.)
    5. Get back on the “Verify Account” page and Paste that confirmation code in the box beside “Confirmation Code:” …You can paste by clicking Paste in the Edit menu, or by pressing Ctrl + “v”. (Mac users press Command + “v”.)
    6. At the bottom of the page, click Verify Account.
    7. A sign-in page opens with your ID already filled in. Sign in with your password.
    8. You’re done. See the new account in the list on your Mail Accounts page? Now you can easily send from it by opening a Compose page, clicking the down-arrow on the end of the “From:” box, and clicking the new account in the pull-down list of email addresses. People receiving the message will see it as being sent from that address.
  9. OK, so you also want to be able to check email in this other account from your Yahoo! Mail account? No problem. On the page you’re looking at, enter that account’s mail server name (currently, only POP mail servers are supported). It will be something like pop.goestheweasel.com. To find out what it is, either search that application’s Help pages for “POP” or “server” (or both), or contact that email provider directly.
  10. Next, type your user name for that account and the password. This is completely confidential! Nobody has access to this information, but Yahoo! Mail needs it to check the account. Note: Your user name is the text in your email address before the "@" symbol.
  11. We thought a good way to identify mail from different accounts would be to give it a different color in your Yahoo! Inbox. So that’s what this last part is about: pick an indicator color to mark messages received from this account.
  12. Click Setup Mail Server. You should now be looking at the “Verify Account” page. Go back to Step 7 to hopskotch your way through account verification. Once that’s done, you can do it all from Yahoo! Mail – check mail in that account and send mail from that account.
Note: Yahoo! Mail only retrieves messages from your external (POP) mail accounts when you request it. Do this by clicking the other account’s server name in the upper-left corner of the page under “Check Other Mail”.

I want to close my yahoo mail box indefinitely

Terminating your account means you'll lose access to the Yahoo!7 Yahoo! ID, Yahoo!7 Messenger, and profile names associated with it. If that is your intention, please continue reading. However, if you are only looking to uninstall Yahoo!7 Messenger, click here for those instructions. If you wish to cancel your Yahoo!7 Yahoo! account, please continue reading.
When deleting a Yahoo!7 Yahoo! account, we'll also delete the account data and settings across the Yahoo! network. This includes any contents in:
  • Yahoo!7 Mail
  • Yahoo!7 Address Book
  • Yahoo! HotJobs
  • GeoCities
  • Yahoo!7 Briefcase
  • Yahoo!7 My Yahoo!7
  • Yahoo!7 Yahoo! Groups
  • Finance Portfolio
  • Any other area of Yahoo! that can only be accessed with your Yahoo!7 Yahoo! ID and password
Be sure you want to delete your entire account, as you won't be able to reactivate it after the account has been deleted. You're always welcome to sign up again for a new account.
Terminating your Yahoo!7 Yahoo! account won't alter or delete your Yahoo! People Search listing, which you need to edit or delete yourself.
If you subscribe to any premium services, we recommend that you cancel them first—before you delete your account. There is no guarantee that deleting your Yahoo! account will immediately cancel the billing for any premium services you're subscribed to. To cancel your current subscriptions, visitYahoo! Billing Information for your account, choose the "My Services" tab and click the "Cancel" link for each subscription.
Now: To remove your entire account, please visit our Account Deletion page. You'll be asked to sign in to verify your password for the account you wish to delete. Please be sure to read the next page carefully, as important information about your account is included. You can then confirm the deletion of your account.
When the deletion process is initiated, your Yahoo! account can never be recovered.
