The plug at the end of the headphone is wearing out

The plug near the end of the cord seems to allow only one channel or another or none depending on its position. I have the long extension cord as well as the short one to plug directly into a portable cd player or computer. Usually I plug the grados into a grado amplifier. The problem is worst when plugged into the amplifier, and slightly better when i plug it into a portable cd player using the small extension plug. Using the extension cord to plug into the amplifier or plugging the headphones directly into the amplifier directly makes no difference.
I hate being without them for several weeks. Can I sacrifice the extension cord I use to plug into th amplifier and switch plugs with the plug on the end of the headphone cord.

showmecables.com/Bulk-Cable STEP 1 Purchase the RF modulator at an electronics store. The modulator is used to connect your older television to cable.
STEP 2 Plug the RF modulator in a power outlet near your television. It is best to plug it near the television to allow for easy access.
STEP 3 Connect your television to the RF modulator by inserting the one-prong cord that is on back of your television. Insert the cord in the slot on the modulator that reads, "To TV." On older televisions, this cord is the only cord in the back.
STEP 4 Connect one end of the white one-prong cable to the cable box and the other end in the RF modulator. Connect it into the modulator in the slot the reads, "ANT IN." Usually, the cables are provided by the cable company--the technician uses them upon installation. This particular cable may run along the side of the wall to your cable box.
STEP 5 Turn on the cable box and the television set. Everything should be working properly. On the RF modulator, choose the channel for the television (either channel 3 or 4). The modulator turns on when you plug it in.

Sylvania wireless headphones

Instructions
1
Set up the transmitter. Wireless headphones rely on a transmitter that sends audio via infrared or radio waves to your headset. Use the digital audio output (coaxial or optical), RCA outputs (red and white) or headphone jack on your TV to connect the transmitter. The connection will depend upon which outputs are available on your TV and/or the transmitter.
2
Use an RCA-to-headphone adapter. If you don't have a headphone jack on your TV and the transmitter includes only a headphone connection, connect an RCA-to-female headphone connector. This will allow you to plug the wireless transmitter into the female headphone end and then hook the RCA ends into your television's audio outputs. You may also need a 3.5 mm (mini jack)-to-1/4-inch adapter if the headphone plug on the transmitter doesn't match the television jack.

3
Set the transmitter on top of, or next to, the television. For infrared transmitters, you'll need a direct path between the headphones and the transmitter. Placing the transmitter on or near the TV will allow you to take advantage of the clear path you already have.
4
Plug in the transmitter and turn it on. Charge the headphones if necessary.
5
Turn on the headphones. Adjust the volume and settings and you're ready to watch TV.

I WHICH TO PURCHASE SOME HEADPHONES FOR SRF 59

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you
    • 1
Locate the faulty connection along your cord. Plug in your headphones and play sound through them as you jiggle the cord at various points to locate what part of the cord is cutting in and out.
    • 2
Cut the cord using wire cutters an inch or so past where the fault in the cord is. If this is at the connector, cut the entire connector piece off. If it is near the headphones, cut off enough to eliminate the faulty section and still allow the cord to be reconnected.

    • 3
Strip the end of the cut cord. There are three wires in the cord: the left channel, the right channel and the ground. The left and right normally are colored, and the ground is bare.
    • 4
To repair a poor connection where the cord meets the headphones, match the wires with the correct leads coming from the earpieces and twist them together. Wrap the wires with electrical tape.
    • 5
To repair a bad connection at the connector jack, acquire a new 1/8-inch connector and attach the cord's inner wires to the appropriate points on the connector. Connect the left channel wire to the tip, the right channel wire to the ring, and the ground wire to the sleeve. Solder all the wires in place.
    • 6
Connect the headphones to a sound source and test for proper function. Jiggle the cord at the new connection to make sure it is secure and does not cut in and out.

My technics headphones have just stopped working, is it probably a faulty chord?

Unusual to fail on both channels at the same time, however the most common cause is a break in the wire just above the 3.5mm plug.
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
I appreciate your vote if you appreciate my reply.

Right headphone break & malfunction (sound keeps breaking up)

What you have is a break in the cable, you can track it down by flexing the cable in different places till it acts up. Now once you have done that, you can determine the best course of action, I will come back to this shortly.
The distortion sounds to me like one of the earth wires inside the cable or at the plug end is off or broke. If it sounds spaced out or tinny then for certain you have an earth break.
OK bearing in mind the headset break, it now depends on where the cable break is. If it is near the plug end then you could cutt the offending section off and fit a new plug. The same in the middle (you would simply need an extension cable to make it longer). At the top near the headphones and you would need a new cable and have to go into the headphones to fit it, increasing the risk of further damage to the repair etc.
If you are good with a soldering iron you can do the first two options, however I wouldn't advise the third, due to the damage.
It all depends on how you feel about the style of the headphones, for you could replace the whole headsett and cable, but keep the high quality speakers. All you need do is find a cheap pair of headphones with the same size speakers as yours. Then all you need do is take both old and new speakers out and fit the old speakers in the new case. They won't look as good but they sound will be the same.
If you go for opition one or two and don't know how to put a new plug on just let me know.
If you go for the opition to remove the old speakers, you will need to remove the ear pads and any foam and then you should see access screws to get at the speakers (on both shells).

Music only comes out of one side

It depends where you pulled the cord? If you pulled it near the earpiece you could have disconected the the wire from the speaker. In which case you need to remove the pad, pull off any foam (you can glue it back after) this will reveal access screws. You can then look inside to see the damage.
If you have however pulled it at the plug end, you will need to fit a new plug. If you can use a soldering iron it's not too hard to fit a new one. If you don't know how let me know and I will post additional info on it.

One of the wires inside the cord must be broken since both channels can be heard only when manipulating the connection on the source end. Any fix?

Buy a new plug at Radio shack (for instance) and solder it on to your headphone, just cut the old/broken plug off at the base as to save the most lengt of your wire. Make sure to 'burn' the ends of the wires you are about to attach(1 or 2 second flame from a lighter) they are coated, but its hard to see, burning them removes this coat making the wires able to transmit the electrical current(music, in this case :P)....IF YOU DON'T WANT TO/KNOW HOPW to solder, then I would buy the cheapest headphones you can buy(Dollar store), cut the cord off somehwere halfway and reattach that to the cord on your headphones. MAKE SURE TO "BURN" the coating off the wires for this procedure to, or they will be together, but they wont make any contact!...I've done this many times and it has always worked great fror me!...Good luck.

I have an mp3 player that i want to hook up to my logitech x-540 speakers but when i do it only plays on the front, or rear speakers depending on which cord i plug it into, is there a way where i can use...

An MP3 player is a stereo device, meaning that it works on two channels - left and right. Therefore a 5.1 speaker system will only play on 2 speakers.

However, if you want to use rear speakers as well, just for the fun of it (you won't get any surround effects, both left speakers will play the left channel, and both right speakers the right channel) you can purchase a "headphone Y-adaptor", that normally allows two people to use two pairs of headphones on the same portable music device.
It has one headphone plug and two headphone sockets in parallel. Plug it into the player, and to the sockets plug the front and rear speaker cables :)

Please come back with a testimonial if helped :)
