Question about Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

Maytag gas kitchen range/oven model# MGR575 ADW during preheat cycle in oven seems to keep trying to start left bank of burners over and over again. Gas can be heard flowing an ignition occurs and then burner goes out and the cycle starts over. this continues until set temperature is reached and from time to time while baking it will start to cycle again.

That actually sounds to be pretty normal operating procedure unless im not understanding correctly, the unit will shout off, and cycle back on to maintain proper temp as cooks, the" top lef bank of burners" they show signs of clicking??? but not actually igniting correct??? and do they ever start to click when unit is completly off???

My Maytag Gas Oven MGR5750ADW preheats on certain temperatures and not others. For example it wont preheat at 350 degrees but will preheat at 380 degrees. At 350 we smell gas.

What you have is an ignition problem get this corrected before you experience a delayed ignition, the hot surface ignitor pulls enough amps 3-3.4 to power up and open the gas valve but ignition did not take place reason you smell gas don't know how old unit is ignitor may be weak good on draws 3-3.5 amps burner ports may be dirty or the bracket that the ignitor mounts too may have bowed away from the burner

Oven takes too long to preheat. 20 minutes to get t0 300.

3 possibilities:

1. Broil burner is cycled with bake burner during pre-heat ... make sure both burners are coming on during the pre-heat ... could be ignitor or gas valve failure on one burner ... you can check Broil mode to see if the broil burner ignites...

2. Temperature sensor bad or connections corroded ... this can signal the electronic control that the oven is hotter than it actually is...

3. Fault in the controller itself. If this seems likely we can test/repair it for you if you like.

I have a maytag MGS 5770 ADA range/oven. The oven does not heat. The top burners and broilers work fine. However, the bottom oven burner doesnt kick in. the igniter glows red hot but the gas never...

I would start by replacing the ignitor. It could glow enough to light the oven, but to maintain the burner, it often re-ignites several times during a cooking cycle. I have had the problem before, replaced the ignitor and all was well. You should be able to find an ignitor for under $40 online. Just google 'Maytag oven ignitor' and you should find many offers. My sister just bought one for $19.99!

MAYTAG GAS RANGE MODEL # MGR5750 ADW

The range has sensed a runaway temperature. if you have a meter you can ohm out the temperature probe make sure it reads around 1270 ohms. if it is way off replace the temperature probe if it is close to 1270 replace the EOC. (Electronic Oven Control)

Unable to preheat

You need to replace the temp. sensor. It's not reading correctly. These occasionally go when you use the self clean as the range gets up as high as 900 degrees. Replace it and it will solve the problem

Inacurate temperatures

Often the temp gauge is the culprit. To check temps, allow to preheat for 15 minutes. Monitor the highest temp reached after burner shuts off and record. Then monitor lowest temp before burner cycles back on again. Average out readings. Example, if high is 355 and low is 345, average temp is 350. Do this for 3 cycles and average out.
