Can you adjust the vertical hold with the remote? There is no vertical hold knob on the TV. The picture goes back and forth from fine to rolling up and down rapidly. Thanks so much! It's a Mitsubishi CS-27EX1 from 1993.

Vertical jumping may have a vertical hold issue, horizontal may have a horizontal hold issue. Most older tv sets will have some knobs or adjustable screws for vertical and horizontal hold. Turn your set on and check for these knobs on the back of your set and adjust until your picture is in as well as you can get it
this was adjusted by the fine tune on the selector It is the picture not being held in place by being out of tune Same as if the picture goes sideways On the real old units there were 2 knobs to make these adjustments.
It sounds like your vertical driver for the tv tube is burned out. you can try to adjust the picture settings with your remote. If it is an older tv there may be knobs on the tv set itself to adjust your brightness/contrast/ etc. there may be a picture size adjustment some where. But I feel that you will need to take it to a repair shop. In a lot of cases the repair bill is more expensive than going out and buying a new tv. Also check to see if your warantee is up, and check online for your brand and model of tv on the manufactures website to see if there was a recall.
The sync is automatic. There are no knobs to turn. If the picture is rolling, look first to the source connection and make sure your tv has a solid vertical sync connection. If you are using the RF input then the issue could be within your small signal board also known as the SSB. Good luck.
you need to adjust the vertical setting on your tv set. are you a tech person? if you are just follow these instructions.
turn the tv off and unplug it. take the back of the tv off. you will find the screen and the crt tube. on the tube, you will find the yoke of the screen follow the four wires coming down to the board. you will find small knobs. you will find writing next to these knobs. look for vertical phase. once you find it. now you have to plug the tv and do this live. be carefull. once you see the picture on the screen. adjust this knob till you see the bottom. good luck
