It overheats the xbox which i consider risky and then resets the master chips, it usually works temporarily like a week or so thenu have to do it again in most cases. I reccomend getting it fixed period, it'll take away the frustration

Xbox 360 red ring of death

Not a simple question.

It depends on the 360 to be honest.

Whatever you do try do not do the "towel trick"
The red ring of death is usually an overheating problem and the towel trick will cause the 360 to overheat.
Look on youtube for "the penny trick/fix"

I'd recommend you send your xbox to a repair center though. In most cases they will repair it for free.

Freezes,and red lights come on

This is called the red-ring of death. Call 1-800-4my-xbox and they can help you with this situation. If you haven't had your 360 over 3 years, than they will fix it free under the warranty. Another trick others have said works, is to wrap a towel around your 360. This will heat up your xbox, and reconnect any soldering that seperated. The towel trick is only a theory I heard...not sure how much truth there is to it. Worth a shot. :D

When i turn on the xbox 360 one light on right side goes on

This is called the ring of death. It happens to alot of x360. The console got to hot. One thing you can do is the towel trick. Wrap the 360 in a towel so it is not exposed at all. Make sure it is turned on. Leave it on for 30 minutes. This sometimes will repair the problem. If this does not work the first time try it again. If this does not work there is another fix, but it is very involved. Let try the towel trick first.

I got the red ring of death and did the towel tirck and now my xbox freezes up

The tower trick is only a temporary fix, you will need to replace the xclamp or modify it to fix it for good. See pictures and replacement kit on the following site.
