I just bought a Samsung 46" LCD HDTV at BestBuy. It has a great picture and many nice features, but, despite all sorts of audio "controls", has a terrible tinny sound that renders speech almost unintelligible. Surely there's an acceptable solution that doesn't involve the purchase of an expensive home theatre or surround sound system. I just want to be able to understand what people are saying!

I also have a Samsung 46 inch HDTV and have the same problem. I reported it to Samsung. They sent out a repair man who replaced the entire audio system... I did not help at all. Sound quality still very bad. Hard to understand audio voice on most movies. Is there a solution short of installing an additional home theatre system?

How do l adjust my Sansui 4k ultra hdtv to get better sound?

You can't unless you buy a theatre Sound system. You can improve the picture quality but not the sound as you are tied to the tiny inferior speakers within the television. If you are stuck for space a sound bar and woofer speaker are a good alternative.

Have a new haier 58 in tv picture is very good quality but sound is somewhat muffled

Check the speaker/s first. If found OK; check and replace the damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit board. If needy, replace this board as card basis. Speakers sound bad when music is playing

Most flat panel televisions have very poor sound quality especially when it comes to music. If you want improved sound then I would suggest investing in a Home Theater System such as HTIB (home theater in a box) or a sound bar for improved audio. If you believe the bad sound is a result of a defective speaker and the TV is under warranty I would call the manufacture and inquire about it being repaired. Or you can go with my original suggestion.

Check the manual... it maybe set for mono/ If it was purchased as a demo model you never know where it could be set.

Sound Problems with 32" Vizio HDTV

our brand new Vizio 32 HDTV has poor sound quality, so irritating in it's flat muffled character that I can't watch it. My electrical engineer husband as attempted to change it (he does not hear the difference between the Vizio and our two Sony...there is a BIG difference) by turning off the surround sound. But to me nothing has changed. What do you think? it sounds a little bit like an old radio or a broadcast from inside a closet. Hmmm

Samsung le40a lcd - picture quality

Hi - I have some suggestions. The following factors effect picture quality:
1. Source (because LCD TVs have much higher picture quality than traditional CRT "Tube" TVs, the worse your source material, the worse it looks on a LCD TV).
DVD and Sky/Digital TV should look excellent on this TV when connected with a good quality Scart lead (nothing too expensive, but a Oxygen Free Copper Gold lead may help) directly into one of the TV's Scart inputs (avoid using "switching" boxes for multiple equipment).
Also, bear in mind that this is a HUGE screen (40 inches I think) and will REALLY show up bad source material.
The best advice I can give is, if you have HD-ready equipment use HDMI connections for everything (ideally with an HD-uplscaling DVD player which will "improve" the quality of standard DVDs on the TV - I recommend models by Philips) and check that you are in "Movie" or "Cinema" mode on the TV.
Make sure that all of your equipment, like your Sky digibox, is set to 16:9 mode (not 4:3) aswell to preserve the true widescreen aspect ratio.
Hope that helps!

Vizio 42'' TV Sounds like it is in a metal tube.

The volume was up on the TV, but down on the cable box remote. By raising both volumes the sound quality improved dramatically.
