Most likely there is a problem with servo drive for the lens and camera functions. The fix is to replace the complete processor board including the servo drive electronics. After replacement the board must be tested and calibrated.

Call Sony to see if the camera is worth to have serviced.

Getting an zoom error on my fuji film finepix z90, what can i do?

Lens errors (zoom errors on Fuji's) are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to lens error problems can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some last resort troubleshooting steps that you can try that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try.

Problem with my Olympus FE-230

When I turn my camera on, the lens goes in and out a few times. Once it's finally on and I look at the screen, everything is blurry. When I take the picture, it's blurry too. If I try to use the zoom to adjust, the lens starts going in and out all crazy and won't adjust right.

Zooming with Olympus Stylus 820

Hey missy0528,
There are a few reasons your images might be grainy, one of which is your image quality is set to low. I would always have the camera set to the highest resolution possible, because you can always reduce the size of an image but you can never make it bigger. Another cause of grainy images in digital cameras is the sensitivity of the camera (ISO) is set to high. Since you are only seeing grainy images when you use the zoom the reason for the grainy images is most likely do to using the digital zoom. All a digital zoom does is crop the image much as you can do in some computer applications, and by doing this you greatly reduce your image quality. I would never use a digital zoom. Your camera has a 5x optical zoom and a 5.6x digital zoom. I would only use the optical zoom. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

Picture shakes when I zoom

I don't know how you can easily tell the spec for the anti-shake is working on your camera. There is a specific specification for how much it can compensate. There is a factory spec that specifies that with a specific lens magnification ratio, the camera can be moved a specific number of arc-seconds and display within a specific amount of movement error. At home it would be impossible to do a technical evaluation of this feature.

What you can do as a user is to read the instruction manual about the option and see how to make sure that it is turned on in the camera's menu section. It is possible that your model may not have the feature. This you have to check in the spec sheet that came with the camera.

When the anti-shake is turned on, you should see the picture appear to be more stable than when it is turned off. With high zoom settings, it will be less stable looking than with wider angles of zoom. It does have its limitations.

Professional photographers normally don't like the anti-shake feature for shooting videos. For still pictures it is a good feature if you want this type of performance. This is because with moving video taping when the camera is being panned in small motions, the smoothness of the pan is taken away. The stabilizer starts to work at the beginning of the pan and then it gives out in sort of stepping actions. This can create a sort of jerking type of pan motion in the pictures.

No picture and lens does not retract

Well some cameras has features that does not use the LCD screen of the camera, because to save battery power or to get better shots with the focus ring.

You can just use the area where you focus your eye to aim and shoot the object of image.

Try to enabled the LCD screen feature.

The Zoom Lens Wiggles 3 times because it is programmed to zoom at the standard zoom size, this is totaly normal for camera in digital and analog types.

Digital Zoom Problem

Three things: First, it is possible to disable the digital zoom feature on your camera. See the attached picture for instructions on how to make sure that digital zoom support is turned on. Second, digital zoom is only supported when you have the LCD turned on. Third, digital zoom isn't really a zoom. It is simply taking a smaller picture, and then stretching it out. Instead, you should take the picture with no zoom, then crop the photo using your PC to get it to the size you like. Keep in mind that digital zooming and cropping are technically the same thing. Both lower the amount of information you are capturing, and both will reduce the overall quality of the photo when you print it. I recommend Preclick's photo organizer (for Windows). It is free and can be downloaded from www.preclick.com.
