Hi, I have recently noticed that I have a blue single line down the monitor screen of my Sony Vaio VGN-A217M laptop. It runs from the top to bottom.

Same Problem

-   I also have this annoying blue line running down my computer. It comes and goes and sometimes I can tap the screen or bend it up and down and it will go away. But sometimes it just stays there to annoy me. I had once already replaced the screen since I had it even worse before where it looked like I had 2 colour bars on it so it was much worse. Still my 2nd screen and still get this damn line. No more Acer products for me in the future. It's not even worth replacing the screen, might as well just buy another laptop. -   Guest

-   blue line appeared about 30 min. after cleaning the screen. some 15 minutes later, another parallel blue line appeared but disappeared in about 10 min.
It's Sony Vaio laptop. -   Guest

-   my dad droped my laptop on my way back from a trip when it fell of the bellcart( which was a good 8 feet in a bag filled with my clothes) and next time i opened it a blue line a pixel thin ran the length down my laptop and would dissapear if the screen was pushed back a little bit but when you stopped it would come back and then my screen would go out with the lightest tap anywhere on the laptop and if the cd/dvd drive was opened it would go outi found out that a connection from the cd/dvd drive to the monitor came lose and is what caused it cost 97 dollars to get it replaced and installed (at jtech) and all the problems went way but the blue line waent away before i got it replace for some reason thenlast night it fell 2 feet off my bed onto carpet and i opened it about 2 hours ago and a RED line appered in the same spot as the blue but luckily the screen didnt go out with a tap will someone please help me-   catynes

I have had the same problem

This happens from overheating or from physically abusing the screen

I have an acer, which can take a lot of punishment, but i throw it around and keep it on 24/7 until it gets so hot the plastic starts to smell and melt

Awesome computer, it still works very well for the price (500$)

It developed blue lines on the screen lately and i know from previous experience acer will replace your screen as this may be a factory problem

If you're a freak like me who runs his computer all the time though, they aren't going to listen to you for one second and you have to deal with it

A) Dont use your computer as much (that sometimes fixes it)
B) Buy a better cooling deck
C) Dont abuse the screen (any bending or even the slightest tap can kill it)
D) If the problem doesnt go away, make peace with it and get used to it
E) Replace the screen (i dont want to, so now i have kewl blue lines on my screen)

I have had this fault just develop, i notice if itake top corners of the screen and pull the left corner away slightly and the right corner closer the line vianishes, the line is not visible if the screen on is white or very light blue, but any other color and its there

so I suspect this a loose/damaged connector pin in the color control

I experienced the blue line down the middle of my Dell XPS140 laptop screen. I thought all was lost, but I just gave a few firm taps to the face of the screen up and down the line, and it went away! I feel lucky not having to spend any money to fix it!

There is simply no fix for this really other than replacing the screen when it gets too annoying to put up with. I've had a quote of £180 from a business to do it for me and I've found a 2nd hand replacement on an auction site for £125 if I fit it myself. I'm going to try the latter.

I have a Dell Inspiron 9200 17" and developed a line about 2 months ago. Now I have another line. I DO NOT abuse my screen. I DO NOT leave it on for long periods of time. I dont get it. Is this a flaw w/ Dell?

Comment by Jodiwoo, posted on Feb 02, 2009

I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 17" widescreen and had my first vertical line appear some weeks ago. The number grew by about a line a week and I now have 16 of them across the screen in random places.

I also have a thin blue line from top to bottom of my laptop screen. I havre a Gateway, that just had new harddrive installed about 6 weeks ago because of problems with it doing what I asked of it. This is about two days old and doesn't really bother me except it should not be there. I have shut down, restarted, closed out all programs and when I open it, still there. Is it a pixel that is shot and carrying the line.. I am working around it but would love to know how to fix it..
